Every act of obedience is an act of courage. Every hard yes, every difficult no, every moment of moving and shaking takes bravery.
from Looking For Lovely, by Annie F. Downs
"Practice makes perfect" is true. "Practice makes confidence" is truer.
Annie F. Downs, Let's All Be Brave
You have to find purpose in the suffering so you don’t give up. You have to persevere. And when you persevere, your character, your proven faith and tried integrity, grows. And then hope. Hope arrives.
Annie F. Downs, Looking for Lovely
“I believe in the me God made and in the me God can make. I believe He made me on purpose and didn’t make any mistakes when it came to my creation. That makes me feel brave.
And that is the place where I find my courage—knowing that while I am making mistakes, I am not a mistake.”

I recently started reading “100 Days to Brave: Devotions for Unlocking Your Most Courageous Self”. It all started when I picked Brave for my One Word challenge. A month later I was browsing through Target, which is not a usual activity of mine, and Annie’s book practically jumped off the bookshelf at me. I couldn’t ignore the sign from God to read it so I bought it and now I’m twenty-five days…

Question I’m always asked: What podcast(s) do you recommend?
I am listening to podcasts almost every day. It took me awhile to get into them, but now I’m a full convert.
I’ve gotten some asks about which ones I listen to, so I figured I’d list them out.
I don’t typically listen to podcasts while reading or having my “Starbucks time” (which I need to write about ha!), which typically involves journaling. I find podcasts show up for me in the morning getting ready, preparing food, and they are a godsend for driving.
In no order in particular:
Oprah’s Super Soul Sunday: Duh
Listen to it: On the way to work, way home from work, quiet days running errands, traveling.
Jen Hatmaker’s For the Love: She is delightful, and I LOVE the way she talks, and please check out her books because they are so freaking funny and relatable)
Listen to it: Getting ready for your day, on the way to work, running errands, making dinner.
Annie F. Down’s That Sounds Fun!: She is real, and real funny and I’ve been listening to her for two years now)
Listen to it: While walking, getting ready for your day, driving anywhere.
Fun Therapy with Mike Foster: New find! holy crow...just obsessed with this one.
Check out the episodes featuring Annie F. Downs, Eryn Eddy, Caitlin Crosby.
Listen to it: Quiet weekend driving, walking through your neighbourhood, when you have a minute for yourself.
The Lady Gang: Like listening to your friends
Listen to it: Driving home from work - ideally on a Thursday or Friday.
Light Work by Danielle Laporte: Only a few episodes but they’re gorgeous
Listen to it: Prolonged drive, in the bath.
Manifestation Babe with Kathrin Zenkina: This one might be polarizing but for some reason, I’m into her drive.
Listen to it: On the way to work to get yourself pumped for the day.
On Being with Krista Tippett: Insightful, calming
Listen to it: With tea, while walking, in the car.
The Marie Forleo Podcast: Business and life, y’all! Straight to the point.
Listen to it: While stretching in the morning, getting ready for the day.
The Dais Podcast with Rachel Hollis: Another newer one for me, great info on branding!
Listen to it: Getting ready in the morning
Mo’ Money Podcast with Jessica Moorhouse: Canadian money-related info on investing, money mindsets, etc.!
Listen to it: When you’re making dinner, getting ready, etc.
ALSO. Something I noticed - and I have no idea why, I’ll figure that out later - is that I actually listen to a few Christian authors... I do not identify as a Christian, was not raised as a Christian (only time I ever set foot in church was if I was staying over at a friend’s who happened to attend or weddings), but I really like their podcasts! They’re not “God-heavy” if you’re concerned about that. I’m also open to a lot of spiritual discussions so my interest range from Tarot cards, to meditation, to scripture, and I don’t feel confined to one thing or the other - which might be why I don’t mind any religious references :) So that’s a disclaimer for folks reading the list!
Talk to me about your podcasts that you love! (I will not tune into true crime ones, I’m sorry. I can't get into them!) What are you listening to?!
