I wasn’t sure if this was spoilers or not, but I’m curious. In ULFI pg 44, why doesn’t Ralathor recognize Quadirymir as another Wizard? I know Ralathor won’t recognize Quadi by face since Quadi killed him in Kilchoan. Is it a Chaos thing or a proximity thing?
One could consider it a bit spoilery. So here comes a little wall of text with minor spoilers for stuff far in the future.
He does actually know. Or at least at that point, in that very moment, he strongly assumes.
(Generally wizards do recognize each other when face to face (let's call it simplified an aura), but that indeed doesn't work via screen transmission. But Ralathor assumes, because that level of tech fuckery, on that scale, by one person - sounds like magic).
And he takes action accordingly, informing the circle and inquiring if this wasn't an official thing he just crashed etc etc.
There will be additional in between chapter posted before comic 5 or 4 that tie the comic together with additional context - recontextualizing some things.
Because the question is - why hasn't Ralathor said something directly, aye?
The thing is - the first three comics all take place between the first few chapters of Heart of Fire, as will become more obvious in due time.
To run into another wizard, or even a chaos wizard by chance, is highly unlikely, but at that point could be galactic misfortune. So while Warrior Ralathor on board keeps calm, his Wizard would be already informing the powers that be. Ralathor does not want that kind of problem on his ship, confronting whom might be a chaos wizard is not what he can risk while shipping around that work in progress that is Angus at that point.
Things are happening behind the scenes - but they are happening. We're just still more in Angus vision in the Comic, not seeing the full picture.
Generally, the answer to "Why doesn't Ralathor do X" lays within what he's trying to accomplish at that moment and the situation he's in (in relation to the Circle as well. Which will be explored, all in due time).
