Another Path AU - The Miraculous

I wanted to point out the way the Miraculouses have been changed for this AU. Also, these are some personal headcanons for the Miraculous. I will only be doing the main seven, and will be handling the Zodiac Miraculous in another post.

Energy

Before going over the powers, I want to establish how the powers are powered (does that make sense? eh, whatever). To be honest, the whole one-use-then-depower deal is stupid, and leads to boring, uninteresting fights. As well, the fact that only adults can use their powers multiple times is contrived and, say it with me, stupid. So, I want to propose something to fix this:

A magic meter

Think how The Hero works in Smash Ultimate, and how he has a meter for all his special moves. Using a special drains a bit of his MP, but it refills slowly over time. THAT is how the Miraculous powers should have worked. Using a power costs some MP, it refills over time, and you can use the power again! All of the powers cost different amounts of MP (Something like Mirage costing the least, Miraculous Healing the most), and to balance it out some powers have a cool down time before they can be used again.

As to how much MP a person has, that depends on two things. The first is how much natural magic the person has, or has trained to use. The second is how much experience with the Miraculous the person has.

The timer for transforming back only activates after the magic meter hits about 15-20% of it’s total quantity. And, since the meter refills (about 3% per second), the user has plenty of time before they reach that amount.

Powers

First, I would like to thank @loosescrewslefty fore being a great inspiration for these new powers. Without them, I would still be lost as to how these powers would be different.

With the new powers is a quick note as to how much MP is used to power them.

Ladybug (Positive Energy)

Heart - Miraculous Healing (all available magic, can be powered by using the Lucky Charm)

Mind - Lucky Charm (20%)

Energy - Miracle Wish (50%)

Can will anything into existence

Body - Elytron (10% each)

Creates small ladybugs that connect to a target. Ladybugs then generate a magical aura that protects that target from the elements and any non-combat harm.

Soul - Red String (30% activation, 2% each second)

Can connect the users soul to another living thing and amplify its natural abilities.

Black Cat (Negative Energy)

Body - Cat Scratch (25%)

Cut causes a bad luck curse to be placed on the victim

Mind - Cheshire Cat (10-30%)

Causes madness. Intensity varies depending on the amount of energy put into the attack

Energy - Cataclysm (40%)

Body - Catatonic (20%)

Puts victim to sleep

Soul - Catacomb (10% each)

Creates shades to work like Shadow Clones

Fox (Mind)

Mirage (5%)

Foxfire (20%)

Recharges targets magic meter and amplifies next ability used

Can be used on self

Does not Stack

Turtle (Body)

Shell-ture/Protection (30%)

Withdraw (40%)

A counter with two variations:

Physical attack - Takes blow on shield, then responds with a powered up Shield Bash

Energy Attack - Absorbs energy, then slams energy into ground, creating a shock wave

Bee (Energy)

Sting (20%)

Just Venom with a better name

Nectar (20%)

Creates a honey like substance that, when consumed, can heal injuries, recharge Kwami, and refill magic Meter

Butterfly (Heart)

Metamorphosis (50%)

Heart Search (10% activation, 2% every second)

Allows the user to scan the surrounding area in order to find suitable Champions/Akumas

Peacock (Soul)

Soul Guardian (50%)

Soul Alignment (10% activation, 2% per second)

Allows the user to enter the body of a person that is currently in the possession of an Amok

Warning: If the user does not return to their body before the transformation runs out, they will be stuck as a roaming spirit until the Miraculous is reactivated.

That’s all I have for the main 7 for now. And I will create a post for the Zodiac Miraculous later.

Another Path AU - What’s New

Now let's establish what’s different in this AU. When I first started to plan out this AU, I was only going to alter things so that they align with canon somewhat. But then I realized I could go BUCK WILD with the changes.

Ladybug

Marinette was not present for Fu’s test for the Ladybug Miraculous, and thus does not recieve it at the beginning of the story. Instead, another character gets it.

Adrien

Since Lila begins the story in Origins, Chloe begins to focus more on her. Due to this, the gum incident never happened. Since Adrien was never seen with the gum in Marinette’s seat, she was never mad at him, and never had a change of heart at the end.

Chloe and Kagami

These two will become friends with Marinette later down the line. Chloe will take a while, as her redemption arc will need to occur first. Kagami will take place soon after her introduction.

Lila

Due to Lila being around in the beginning, her manipulation of the class will make more sense. As well, she will be the one who ends up with Tikki, which has it’s own repercussions.

The Miraculous

This post from both @loosescrewslefty and I, as well as their bits about the Zodiac Miraculouses, will be a base for how they will work, and the powers they possess. Also, I want to change some parts of the Bee Miraculous for story reasons.

A lot of Kwami Swaps will be happening.

Other

Some little things that I want to use.

The Dupain-Cheng house and family will have more Chinese elements

Marinette will own a moped

Using some early designs for Marinette and Kagami

Power up potions will not exist

The Zodiac Miraculouses will not be around at first

Another Path AU - The Zodiac Powers

Continuing from this post, now is the time to look at the Zodiac Miraculous. They follow the same energy rules as stated in that post, but only have ONE power. I’m also going to add the weapon/tools for the Zodiac.

Rat

Tool - Jump rope

Mimicry - Can copy one of the abilities of a person they make contact with at. Weaker than the original, do not need to pay original cost. (50%)

Tool - Horns

Charge - Can rush towards an opponent, massive damage upon contact (30%)

Tiger

Tool - Tekko-Kagi

Tiger’s Eye - Able to see weak spots and predict oncoming attacks. Can cause disorientation if overused. (30% activation, 5% per second)

Rabbit

Tool - Parasol

Rabbit Hole - Creates portal inside of parasol, teleports user to anywhere they’ve been before. (50%)

Dragon

Tool - Sword

Stormcaller - Can manipulate the elements (wind, water, lightening, ice) on the sword. Each element needs to recharge before usage. (30%)

Snake

Tool - Lyre

Serenade - Able to play songs on the lyre for a variety of effects. (20% activation, 5% per second)

Horse

Tool - Horseshoe

Gallop - Able to dash towards wherever the horseshoe is currently located. Not limited by the laws of physics. (40%)

Goat

Tool - Horn daggers

Cornucopia - Able to heal or recharge the target (20%)

Monkey

Tool - Pillar

Monkey Business - Creates hard light clones of a person (10% each)

Rooster

Tool - Bow and Arrow

Cockadoodle - Uses an arrow to draw anything into existence (50%)

Dog

Tool - Tonfas

Scent Track - Able to track the scent of anything (10% activation, 2% per second)

Pig

Tool - Meteor Hammer

Pearl - Creates small pearls that attach to a target. Pearl creates a full defensive aura around a person (20% each)

The Struggle

I have to work on both my Flamebug and Lady Aurora AUs.

And I want to start on my Another Path AU.

And I have like 4 other AUs I want to put some work into.

But I can’t help but think up a Flamebug version of the Ladybug episode where Tsuna gets Mari into an exclusive fashion school and Reborn spends the entire day disproving all of Lila’s lies using his unique brand of sarcasm and cosplay.

Another Path AU

Here is an AU I’ve had on the back burner for MONTHS waiting to set it free.

So, this AU started with the desire to remove the two things I felt were holding Marinette back, which will be addressed later.

It starts on the first day, right during Origins, when Mari wakes up early for once. Seeing her up way earlier than she would usually be up, Sabine sends her out to deliver some pastries for Nadia to give to her daughter for the first day. Seeing as she is not taking her usual late route to school, she ends up missing something important.

Later on, when she begins her first day, she ends up meeting two new students, the first being Alya, who quickly makes friends with her, The other spends the first day telling tall tales to anyone who would hear them, to the irritation of even Chloe, who stopped her plans to place gum in Marinette’s seat to glare at her. This continued on until one of her classmates turns into a monster made of stone. After school is canceled for the day, Marinette watches from her window as a red and black spotted heroine attempts to take down Stoneheart.

So, the two things that I feel are holding Mari back are Ladybug and Adrien, so I felt it would be interesting to remove those two from the equation and focus aon just how amazing Marinette is without a Miraculous.
