Always the bridesmaid... D.M Oneshot

Summary: Lucius forbids Draco to be with anyone that isn’t a pureblood, that included you.

Warnings: None, just saddness :(

Of course loving someone who doesn’t share the reality with you is harmful. I wanted our worlds to intertwine, instead they just clashed. I wanted to make your world so bright and colorful. You were used to the silence it clung onto, the darkness only adding more despair.

I fell in love before you were haunted by nightmares that kept you up. I fell in love when you didn’t love me. When you didn’t know me. I hung onto the hope that maybe just maybe...you would notice me. It wasn’t until the horrible times that filled the corridors made you see me.

I wonder if you regret telling me all the horrors that hid around you, the ones you kept quiet. I wanted you to trust me, of course I just had to listen. It made me care more. You began to seek warmth in me, as I often held you and rocked the pain away. I sought comfort in you as well. That was my favorite mistake.

I never knew if you felt the same way, you never talked about your feelings. Never talked about us. What we could become. What we were. The kiss you gave me that night was special. You felt it as well. The sparks flew as your hands grabbed my hair hungrily. That bliss...was only temporary.

Later you would tell me, you were engaged to another. I heard of her, but now all her name brings is pain. I understand why you were to marry her. Your realities were connected. The tears in your eyes when you said sorry over and over and...over hurt. I tried so hard to make your pain go away. 

Here I was, bringing it. 

Astoria became your topics. You always had something to say to her. It was never negative. How I wished...begged they were. She wanted to talk to me more. I was surprised to say the least. She always talked about you. It was always you and her. I was tired of it!

Sick of it.

I just wanted our love back. It was different. You felt it, I know. Something about her inviting me was...rude. She wanted to show that she had won.. The look in you eyes only made me say yes. I wanted to say no. To run away and cry.

Your father looked displeased to see me there. He made short comments whenever you introduced me to people. Often giving me nasty looks. He was disgusted with me.

The way you looked at Astoria brought me back into reality where, I knew you were gone. You left me alone to talk to her. To dance with her. I wanted to drink the pain away. To feel numb. Every fiber in my bone ached. It hurt so bad. I thought about how I could slip away. 

No one would notice me I bet. I was a nobody at the wedding. Gosh to say that word was impossible. I found myself in the back, with no one to talk to. You must have forgotten I was there. 

Funny. You wanted me to be here. I came only for you. Now you acted like I wasn’t there. The loud chats that fluttered the room were cut short. I looked from my glass to see Lucius holding up a glass. He was staring at me. 

“I’d like to make a toast...to Y/N” Draco spoke quickly after, begging him to stop. He didn’t listen. His hatred for me was beaming off of him. He wanted me to see that I had lost you. That I could never be with you. Ever.

“Always the bridesmaid...” Everyone grew quiet as Lucius spoke louder. His eye contact never breaking with me. Soon others joined in and looked at me. What hurt the most was Draco’s look. It was the look of heartache. 

I gazed back at Draco, a smile finding my face. His face grew blurry as tears clung to the corners of my eyes. Ever so threatening to fall down. I mouthed the words that his father so spoke.

“but...never the bride.”
