Hi I saw that your alterhuman/Therian!! I myself am going through a bit of a crisis rn, I can't exactly find any guide blogs or anything - I hope you don't mind me asking :')
To simplify, I have recently discovered through numerous things (the fact I'm a furry and strongly identify with anthro animals and that I regard myself as not fully human in the traditional sense, due to my autism) that I think I'm alterhuman of some flavour?? I REALLY associate with dogs, from finding more comfort in them than people, to having physical habits and mannerisms that are very dog like (stimming), as I've unwound years of conditioning from teachers and so on about how to act 'normally' I think I've found a fluffy little guy underneath!
Which is great- but I don't think I'm Therian persay. I don't believe in kin memories or the religious/spiritual aspects of therians - I know there's more than that (imprinted, psychological etc) but I wouldn't want to share a space where I don't feel like I fully belong, or that I'd invalidate others experiences.
Does the alterhuman label just fit general non humanness? Is there one specifically for dogs or canines..? I'd be thrilled if you couldn't point me in some direction.
Thank you :))

Hello!!!
I'm definitely no expert on alterhumanity (both because of how broad of a spectrum the term can cover and also because I myself actually only realized I was alterhuman earlier this year!), but I'm happy to try to help if I can!
To be honest with you, I also don't believe fall under the "past life" or "spiritual" type of therian umbrella either, instead considering myself to align more with the psychological therian-type thing. But in the end that's all the word "therian" is: a term. Same with alterhuman! Alterhumanity in my opinion is more of an umbrella term for all sorts of different types of nonhuman experiences, from therianthropy, to fictionkin, to otherhearted, to divine/demon/eldritchkin, to...well, ANYthing really! The alterhuman label I would say DOES fit general nonhuman-ness, and if that's what you feel most comfortable referring to yourself as, then that's what you are! I feel as though alterhumanity is inherently a very fluid concept in nature, and so long as you believe it suits you, then it does!
I don't know if there's a canine-specific alterhuman term beyond maybe dogkin or caninekin, but if you don't feel those terms suit you then, I'd say either keep digging until you find something you like more, or come up with something new! Terminology under the alterhuman umbrella is always expanding and being created to better suit those who want or need them, so if it comes down to it, there's absolutely no harm in coming up with something new.
You know, in the end, I think all I'm trying to say is that all that matters is that you feel comfortable with whatever you decide to call yourself! There's no wrong answer to your identity.
I sure hope all of my rambling made sense & that I answered what you were asking (and didn't get too lost in the sauce while writing this)! I hope you have a wonderful time ahead of you, and feel free to stop by my blog whenever you want in the future!
