Talent is largely a myth. It's an over simplification that attempts to encompass all the aspects needed to achieve a level of ability that we think is exceptional: First, having an idea of what we think is exceptional, then having the desire to reach that level -- then relentlessly practicing and learning as much as we can until we reach that level. We all have certain mental or physical attributes and personality traits that may lend us an advantage to whatever it is we enjoy doing, but the truth is: we weren't born to draw or play basketball any more than we were born to make a sandwich. Desire to be great trumps what appears to be "natural ability" almost every time.
