Set in the 1990s, when being gay in the military was illegal, BOOTS follows closeted Cameron Cope and his bet friend Ray McAffey, the son of a Marine, as they join a group of recruits in boot camp. The series is "about friendship, resilience, and finding your place in the world—even when that world seems determined to keep you in line or leave you behind." (Netflix)
BOOTS, inspired by former US Marine Greg Cope White's memoir The Pink Marine, stars Miles Heizer (Cameron Cope), Liam Oh (Ray McAffey, Vera Farmiga (Barbara Cope), Max Parker (Sgt. Sullivan), Cedrick Cooper (Staff Sgt. McKinnon), Nicholas Logan (Sgt. Howitt), Zach Roerig ( Sgt. Knox), Ana Ayora (Capt. Fajardo), Angus O’Brien (Hicks), Dominic Goodman (Nash), Kieron Moore (Slovacek), Rico Paris (Santos), Blake Burt (John Bowman), Logan Gould (Mo Mason), Johnathan Nieves (Eduardo Ochoa), Brandon Tyler Moore (Cody Bowman), Ivan Hoey Jr. (Benjy Cope), Anthony Marble (Harlan McAffey), Brett Dalton (Sgt. Pitowski), Joy Osmanski (Ji-Yeong Setsuko), Jack Kay (Joshua Jones), and Troy Leigh-anne Johnson (Alice). The series hails from creator Andy Parker. Parker and Jennifer Cecil serve as co-showrunners.
