"JACKPOT!!!"
Something that I wanted to bring up in my last analysis notes post that I wasn’t exactly sure how to fit in was my thoughts on the childhood photo of “Anthony”, Ernest, and Mrs. Margaret and which twin was Tony in the photo.
I think that although the Tony we saw in the photo had his hair down, which is Dante’s signature look, I believe that Tony there was meant to be Vergil due to his coat specifically being blue and his shirt specifically being red, which is something similar to Nero’s own color scheme. With the anime being released only a year before DMC 4 and most likely being worked on during the same time as development of DMC 4, I think that this could have been a slight clue as to further hint at Nero being Vergil’s son. But this is just my own thoughts on the matter.
I just saw DMC Anime and I've gotta ask. The Dante/Anthony/ Tony thing. Was Dante really that Anthony or not because the picture & the burried box seems to lead to it.
Yes, it really was. It even showed a hint of Dante having minor flashbacks that affected him emotionally (You don’t really notice due to his stone-like expression and mysterious personality but you can tell he was affected) while Ernest was yelling at him out of the hospital. Plus there was that thing they explained in the episode where demons burned a village due to the Sparda bloodline luring them there. Ernest knew that the source of the village burning was done by demons. But then he eventually finds out the real reason why the demons attacked the village while Dante was slaying the demon Ernest summoned out of the gate near the end of the episode. It’s hard to explain properly on what I mean but Dante had the alias Anthony/Tony to hide his identity as being a relative of Sparda. It would’ve been nice if they explained how the demons found out about Anthony/Tony being Dante before burning down the village. There was even the DMC1 novel (Which is mostly non-canon), but Dante had the alias Tony in it to hide his true identity. Not only did he hide who he was, he also hid away his demon-like agility, strength, etc. to appear more human so he doesn’t seem suspicious.

An article that should interest both @erisis and @empathic-betazoid.
