27 March 2022 - Recent Anthotypes

This Friday, my birthday, I’m setting up an showing of recent photographs at my favourite exhibition space - our local coffee house/restaurant! Here are some of the works - the blue ones are anthotypes made from powdered spirulini (blue-green algae) and water emulsion; the umber brown ones were made with turmeric (yes, the spice!) and alcohol distillates from Barr Hill Gin. Exposure time in bright sunlight - two to three days.

Laburnum of Clematis? Which do you prefer?

They were both printed on particularly sunny days in our front garden in Cheshire with plants from there, using turmeric dissolved in isopropanol alcohol and the power of the sun to make photographic prints, which I then further developed with bicarbonate of soda.
