imagine working so hard to become one of the best f1 drivers on the grid and staying loyal to a horse shit team only for lestappies and diehard dickriders to reduce you as verstappen’s lapdog because you were apparently “defending” max from lando even though you were just trying to secure a p2 rather than another p3.

Why is there so much Rustappen hate going on?? What happened to don't like, don't ship?? And it's mostly coming from Lestappen shippers (and George haters), which is just sad, really. Every time I check the Lestappen tag, there's a Gax hate post. Like.. do your own thing, why are you so obsessed with us??

as a fellow maxiel girlie i, too, hate lestappen AND rucstappen. Are we losing the ancient texts? The holy scriptures? Max NEEEEDS his older man, come on now. I do think that (at least on the lestappen vs maxiel discourse) something that a lot of people are afraid of admitting is that lestappen is more popular partially because charles leclerc is just more conventionally attractive than daniel ricciardo. Which sucks because the chemistry with maxiel was off the charts. Max could've made out with Daniel in public and the lestappies would've still found a way to make it about leclerc because he looked his way for 0.0002 seconds. Pinterest in particular is super guilty of this imo

We are indeed losing the ancient texts and and holy scriptures. Even the number 3 can't help us anymore. Everyday there are 5-6 Lestappen and Rustappen fics on Ao3, more videos. Even the fucking official accounts are getting involved (that's a whole other thing about keeping rpf in rpf places not official account for engagement) I have seen red Bull videos in which Max has mentioned Russell's name ONCE while guessing smth. And immediately every comment was "omg Rustappen"

In pintrest too, if a click the wrong thing immediately I'm bombarded by Lestappen. It's genuinely irritating as it shows up on completely unrelated things. If Max looks at leclerc mentions him. Or if they drive similarly ONCE (like the 360 incident) it's immediately the most popular thing ever.

But yeah you're right the conventionally attractive things also helps Lestappen (personally Daniel is better obviously) along with that, there is also the narrative of Charles being Max's rival being pushed. But honestly no one truly knows how good Charles is or isn't because of Ferrari fuck up (but personally it's 4xwdc vs 0, and more CONSECUTIVE race wins in a season than Charles's whole career. So rivals? Hmm)

That's why Lestappen and Rustappen are getting popular the official accounts push it. While Maxiel always seemed more natural even though red Bull may have emphasized it. But thier interaction with Daniel in McLaren clearly proved they actually like each other.

Plus the whole Kimi is Max and George's child. Look I adore Kimi. He's good. But I hate the George is his mother thing again especially on official accounts to create engagement.

And finally... Maxiel sounds sooo much better than "LeStaPpEn" Or "GaX"

Send me a ship and I’ll give you my (brutally) honest opinion on

i. have spoken on this before but i feel like lestappen suffers from its success for me. its not that its an uninteresting ship but its popularity is not proportionate to its intrigue to me, and i think that makes it worse.

idk maybe i just had to be there in 2022, but for both charles and max to me there are MUCH more compelling pairing with much more content of them together. like even if you don't like maxiel or landoscar (the other top 3 ships on ao3) its at least obvious to see OH, thats why theyre popular, theres clearly something there. and to me lestappen just does NOT have that. and knowing their other bromances it just looks silly to be like omg charles and max smiled at eachother !1! like max wasnt obsessed with daniel when they were teammates and charles and carlos had a crazy cross country carpool, any lestappen interaction just PALES in comparison.

and thats not to say the ship is bad!! it rly is just. why is this so popular when their dynamics with other drivers have 10x more stuff going for them. if lestappen was treated in more rarepair territory i think i would like them a lot more. i think theres a lot interesting to explore. but the fanbase surrounding them just feels so disconnected from reality that its no longer fun for me.

and as someone who started with the "big ships" when i got into f1, i have read a fair amount of lestappen and i won't deny some are REALLY GOOD. like i love a lestappen that really digs into them individually and explores them as people and how their worldviews intersect and clash with eachother. but i find a lot of lestappen work has just been so far removed from the reality that i see with my eyes that its just not fun anymore
