if a marginalized man starts talking about his struggles and you make it about how much you hate men you are not a good person tbh
“omg men trying period pain somulators omg!!”
“men trying pregnancy for a day!!”
“omg what if men could get pregnant hahaha”
“men would suffer if they had female/woman problems!!”
trans and intersex men with endometriosis
trans and intersex men with uteruses
pre-testosterone and pre surgery trans/intersex men
trans and intersex men who gave or can give birth or have gone through pregnancy
trans and intersex men who are still seen as “wrong women” or social experiments by society
trans and intersex men who are excluded when the topic of periods, hygienic and medical care that mainly involve people who are born with female attributes
need i say more
This is transandrophobia.
Ough, yeah, if you actually read up on the history of the term [link], it has never been specific to trans women. In fact, its origins are completely unknown - trans & gender diverse people of all kinds have been using it for years.
It's always been about "coming out of your shell", about growing into what you're meant to be, hatching out of the embryo stage.
The "chick" definition was just a fun add on that trans women were using within their own circles, and instead of remaining silly wordplay, it got twisted by transandrophobes and exorsexists into...whatever this nonsense is.
(Additionally, the "trans men killed the women they used to be" thing is such a massive red flag, considering TERFs use that as an anti-trans talking point all the time. Also, many trans men still align with womanhood in some way, so it's just...such a huge generalization of the trans man experience.)
It's especially sinister as a trans man to spend your life having your masculinity bullied out of you while presenting as a girl, and then finally accept yourself just to have your own community mirror the same abuse but expect you to take it because you're a man now.
There are two types of people that hear "toxic masculinity" and interpret it as meaning masculinity being inherently bad and toxic
Conservatives making bad faith arguments
"Progressives" that think bashing marginalized men and mascs helps abolish the patriarchy
I feel like there’s a lot of homophobia (and also lowkey transandrophobia) in discussion of “fandom misogyny” when there rlly shouldn’t be. you don’t get to be homophobic to gay men or transphobic to trans men just because ur queer and/or a woman. It doesn’t even matter if your critiques are valid. Stop being a bigot. You’re not cool. You’re an asshole.
There was a tiktok video floating around twitter a bit ago. The very first thing I thought of when I saw the comments is that, at the core, they truly believe "men pretending to be trans to get off sexually" is a real thing that one should be concerned about. Sounds a lot like TERFs don't it?
There's so many different aspects to it. We can also clearly see "men invading women's/lesbian spaces" as a common theme. "Men think they're entitled to lesbians! Lesbians don't want you! You aren't a lesbian." Still sounding a lot like TERFs!
Loads of gender essentialism; saying that asking "who want me?" is a "man" thing to do (so what about the trans women I see asking where the trans men who want them are at? Does embracing your sexuality prove trans women are men, since they're doing the exact thing you claim is a man thing?)
I had one person respond that "it's cool when women do it", which is fucked up in many ways. So, it was cool for him prior to transitioning, and now since he's trans it's not cool? Do you hear how fucked up that is? Or the general sentiment said abt sexual harassment too, that it's fine when women sexually harass bc it's not as bad as a man right?
Not even touching on how the issue he made clear was the isolation and alienation for being masc. He wasn't saying "(wokely) if you don't sleep with me I'll KMS" it was "treating people with hostility makes them feel bad."
The saddest part is he was talking about cis people kicking him out of queer spaces
