So the whole volume is a love letter Kerry wrote to himself because the crew show time and again that they have zero imagination. 🥴 Like- I’m glad Kerry realized this for himself, I truly am. But the result of shoving this self-insert theme into V9 was that nothing happens and the entire team learns nothing.

RWBY never truly struggled with feeling inadequate until this volume, which they should feel because they royally screwed up. They’ve always been the unquestionable heroes and have run around with an air of unearned self importance and blatant hypocrisy for years, culminating in an entire kingdom being destroyed, and the message they have to learn is literally “ya, but you tried so here’s your participation trophy because feeling bad about yourself is icky”?!

The team just learning “you are enough” is unsatisfying in general, but also infuriating when they have a lot of flaws that led to this situation they never had to confront. They’re liars, hypocrites, apparently brain damaged to forget Cinder existed in volume 8, self-centered, and exploitative brats who take advantage of Ironwoods amenities while lying to his face. Oh- I’m sorry but I guess they’re good enough 🙄

So when everyone escaped the Ever After, Ruby travelled back home to her dad so she could seek out some serious mental health help after her un-aliving attempt, due to her mistakenly believing that defeating Salem fell on her and her team's shoulders. Learning to understand that big choices shouldn't fall on a bunch of teenagers that can be quite reckless at best.

I understand wanting to defend yourself, but anon does kind of have a point though. Lately, I see more people focusing on shipping and rep for some reason than talking about the main issues with rt. RT for years overworked their staff without reasonable pay and some didn't get paid at all for the first few months, a lot of them lost their jobs and personally faced racism and homophobia and rt still gets away with it by using their famous statement that "they're going to be better." Shipping and rep do feel like such a small thing to focus on when people for years have suffered working under the company

So I've talked at length about and reblogged tons of posts about RT's various horrible practices and bad horrible behavior, over and over and over again for the past like three years. Meanwhile I also make silly memes, talk about how queer representation is important to me, nitpick and criticize media, and just talk about and analyze things that interest me. But because I am in fact spending a couple days answering asks where I'm being attacked, you're.... Telling me I'm in the wrong? Saying that anon had a point when they told me what to do and basically said 'shut up queer rep doesn't even matter right now and you're just mad people ship things you don't?' I have actively called out RT and RWBY over and over on WAY more than queer rep, nobody gets to tell me to shut up because that's not the only thing I post. And btw, what are you doing cruising for RWBY content enough to see my post? You're implying all my time needs to be spent calling out RT (only for the things you want me to say) but here you are spending your time on the internet doing other things? Taking issue with me, instead of making posts calling out RT? Weird.
