It’s like they’re not even trying to say they’re any different.
Either this guy had to watch PB completely gut his idea or his pitch was like...
“Okay, what if we produced a medical drama book, but instead of the medical aspect, the focus is solely on Doctor Thomas Hunt. He’ll insult the player. That’s what people find most attractive about these guys, right? He can call the player stupid or something. Other love interests? Oh, um, the friends group. Yeah, we’ll do what we should’ve done in Lovehacks except they’ll only show up every other chapter. And the player can join an elite diagnostic team, but they’ll have to baby Doctor Thomas Hunt in the second book and in the third his ex girlfriend and his rival that he hates join the team and that’ll take as much focus as solving cases. Like the psychic who can smell things about people because he was bit by a tick. It’ll be fun.”
They ACTUALLY put Tobias on the diagnostic team. I knew they were probably gonna do this, but I had a ounce of optimism that they wouldn’t be clowns for once. Ethan already has his hands in everything, but sure... let’s give him more.
Esme finally showed up after three chapters, but now Aurora has been missing for two yet Ethan hasn’t missed one yet.
“He’s not qualified because the writers didn’t do any research past those first four words.”
It’s wild to me how people think PB rewriting to remove Raf’s death somehow ruined OPH 2 onwards like... you clowns, you fools, you buffoons. First off, Raf’s death has nothing to to with the continuing quality of the book or lack thereof. It’s funny, really, because the problem is actually with Ethan fucking Ramsey and all the copy/paste characters like him. This is Bucket Harringtoad all over again, don’t you see? The writers know a large fraction of the players are suckers for Ethan content, but PB is so obsessed with chasing that, they leave the rest of the book to suffer. The plot, the side characters, the alternate LIs.
“if yall just let them tell the story they originally wanted in the first place”
PB has some of you right where they want you and you don’t even know it. This has nothing to do with Raf. They don’t listen to players. They look at numbers. They see the rude/obsessive cover boy doing well and try everything they can to recapture that “magic” without taking criticism or learning from past mistakes or even understand why some players are unhappy. So the problems keep getting bigger and more obvious that even Ramseynators notice something is off. But you blame it on one fictional character instead of the writers who, you know, wrote the stupid book in the first place.
Choices history is repeating itself.
This chapter is really bad. It’s so heavily Ethan-centric with only brief scenes for Jackie and Raf which only set up diamond choices. And Jackie’s even has insight for Ethan’s case. No Bryce even though he’s apparently a gifted surgeon. Elijah and Sienna are no shows, but worse of all is Aurora is nowhere to be found for... two or three chapters, I think? Her former boss who only hired her to get to her aunt is now working at Edenbrook yet she doesn’t make a single appearance to show us her reaction or feelings? Garbage, throw the entire book out.
Wait, that’s Lucas from ILITW! He’s a main character, WTF!?
