The Librarian of Auschwitz by Antonio Iturbe is the story of Dita, who was taken from Prague to Auschwitz and imprisoned by the Nazis. “In the face of death and hunger and deplorable conditions everyday, Dita took charge of the eight precious books that had been smuggled into camp. A tremendous story of courage and hope.” An amazing story about the ability for people to function and sustain their humanity. A look at the importance of books and words. Would be a great book for high school or middle school teachers 👩🏻‍🏫 to put a face on the death camps. A terrible reminder of the evil men are capable of. Not graphic, but some terrible images. Well worth your time.
