"[Migraine] means a lot to me. It's one of the first songs Josh and I ever played together. […] To be able to feel confident enough in a friendship, to show someone a song like this, was one of the many reasons why I knew I just couldn't be in a band with anyone else." — Tyler Joseph (2019)
"Home is a weird concept for me. I feel like I have a house full of stuff, which is completety different. The idea of a home seems kind of foreign [to me] these days. For me, home is pretty much wherever I'm hanging out with Tyler." — Josh Dun (TOBITW)
"My true best friend, he's a perfect person, the yin to my yang when it comes to all things life. I introduce to you my very favorite person in the world: Josh Dun." — Tyler Joseph (2020)
"Nine years ago today, I started playing in a band with Tyler. The portion of the band's agreement that I contributed [with] all those years ago [was] 'If i’m gonna be famous for something, I wanna be famous for loving you.' [It] still holds true today." — Josh Dun (2020)

"You, my boy, have been arranged a playdate.”
Qifrey stops.
“With young Easthies. Captain Vinanna’s new apprentice. Lovely boy, very sharp, very—” Beldaruit waves a hand, searching for the word and apparently not finding one he liked. “Discliplined. He’s disciplined a great deal. I thought, what a fine thing, two young apprentices, similar ages, similar circumstances—”
“I don’t want to.”
Forced to spend an afternoon together by their masters, a young Qifrey and Easthies discover that they have absolutely nothing in common. This does not stop them from stumbling into an adventure.

please consider this post a proof of life. i have not given up on hotaru or this blog. i miss writing with the wonderful community of people here so much. i hope i will be back around soon. thank you so much to those who have stuck around and chat with me on discord and care about hotaru - i adore you guys. i'm so grateful. i hope you know that even if i haven't been writing much, i am cheering for you. 🫶🏾
some context for my time away is under the cut.
honestly ? i've just been tired. since november, i have been working on gig contracts non-stop. in theatre as a stage manager/assistant stage manager, specifically. it's had moments of highs and lows ( mostly highs lately, which i appreciate, but it was really low for a while there ) but it's just been a lot. each time one show/contract ended, i had maybe a week before the next one started. and in the middle of that, back in march, i started a new job. which has been a lot all on its own. many of my days the past few months have been 6am - 11pm/12am as i try to balance all of it, and it's ... exhausting.
it's made me not take care of myself, admittedly. i'm tired all of the time. i'm not eating. i'm not sleeping. i'm in pain often ( as i write this ) and my already irregular heart rate is struggling more than usual. i've caught myself falling into old behaviors of isolating and withdrawing and that's making it a bit harder to really ... want to write, i guess ? i'm just not feeling the same level of creativity or joy right now. which sucks.
i have two weekends left of performances, and then i'm taking a break from gigs - which is hard, trust me, i've already been asked to consider another one that would literally pick up rehearsals this week. but i did turn it down ! i have spread myself too thin in ways that aren't good for me. it's still probably going to be a little while before i'm here regularly again, but i do want to try.
thanks again for being patient with me. once i take care of me, i promise to take care of hotaru.
