catch-22 band AU...
tbh i dont think that 'fiction has the power to influence reality' and 'fiction serves as a way to safely explore themes that real life doesnt/shouldnt allow for' are mutually exclusive
i should be free tomorrow to gif i think,,,,, i hope
Silver Shepherd as two separate people?
HEADCANONS MMM YES
general premise: what happens when silver shepherd, who has two distinct personalities in him, get separated as two people?
-voila, the superhero and civilian half appears.
-probably a shock to the both of them at first
-to avoid confusion, the other egos call the superhero half Silver and the civilian half Shepherd
-though technically the same people ego (this is redundant oml), they’re treated like twins. To add onto that, the two have a relationship of typical siblings. love-hate with frequent fighting but also deep, undeniable love
-silver is the typical superhero with flying abilities and his fist also probably has a power related to it
-shepherd works as a lawyer in broad daylight (there’s a law office at Egos Inc. just for him)
-in terms of personality, Silver is the totally law-abiding citizen that probably tries to solve civil unrest (crimes) through the long arms of the law.
-he’s kind of like a pacifist in that he hates fighting directly and makes the police and authorities work more than he does.
-method of busting crimes include following the criminals to their secret hideout while alerting the police
-sends his brother Shepherd work everyday with tons of cases for him to crack down on
-Shepherd is hoNESTLY TIRED
-silver is just a Good Boy that is too much of an idealist for his own good
-he probably shows up to peaceful protests
-Shepherd honestly takes no shit from criminals.
-charismatic and charming, and knows only the barest minimum for a case, he has an edge in court
-but he’s more than willing to fiGHT
-both of them work v hard and probably run on 21 cans of red bull each everyday
-Shepherd has a bad flirting habit
-cue in Silver comically smacking him upside the head
-Shepherd feels like Silver is too soft in how he handle things. He needs to mAN UP AND KICK THEIR A@#*SS INTO NEXT TUESDAY
-Silver believes Shepherd behaves too unruly for a lawyer. I mean, there hasn’t been a fight (yet) in the courtroom, but Shepherd has been threatened to be charged with contempt of court many times for blatantly giving the other side threats (how he acquired so many wins idek)
-real talk here, Silver’s biggest fear are villains figuring out he has a “brother” and using him as leverage
-Shepherd is as normal as you would expect. No powers whatsoever, and his durability ain’t that impressive
-going off of that, Shepherd detests how weak he is. He wants to help Silver with the action too, but Silver being the overbearing mother hen that he is forbade Shepherd from being involved
-Shepherd one time stopped a dude from stealing a woman’s purse and Silver kind of flipped his shit. Silver’s the action-oriented one; shepherd’s supposed to stay safe
-to this day Shepherd feels useless despite how confidently he conducts himself. He can’t do anything, and he’s not allowed to do anything major/extreme.
-Silver woRRIES SO MUCH. Like, he sends a text to Shepherd every 10 minutes or so to make sure he’s alive and breathing and taking care of himself or w/e, and if Shepherd doesn’t respond, he’s going to assume the worst
-one time Shepherd didn’t respond to a text, and Silver pretty much busted into the office at Egos Inc. 30 seconds later only to find that Shepherd was using the paper shredder so that’s why he didn’t hear his phone chime
-Silver wants the best for his “brother” okay
-in the end, if it came down to either the safety of Shepherd or the greater good, Shepherd made Silver swear to an oath (much to his intense protest and heartbreak) that Silver would choose the greater good

Pay Attention To Me
Pairing: NicoMaki
Words: 500
Note: Honestly I wrote this so I could cheer up a pal of mine, or at least attempt to, whose been feeling a bit down. So I did my best to write up some fluff for ya! I hope it makes you at least a little happy.
“Maakkii” Nico whined, trying to get her girlfriend to focus on her instead of the dusty old text book her eyes had been glued to for the past two hours, “Pay attention to meee.”
Moot I've been too shy to ask but…do you have any writing tips… I'm planning to write my Kayne x The Manager fic… because I don't think I'm seeing enough of them…
(How do you people write angst without sounding corny… specifically and like… scene description thingy or when you describe the surroundings…)
I already have the idea and first draft scenario in my head…I'm just a little shy… hihihihihehhehee
HIIII OAKWOOD OMG!!
(SPOILERS TO THE [REDACTD] PODCAST IN THIS REPLY BTW)
I totally get you about the angst thing and not wanting to sound corny. What I usually do (and this doesn't always have to fit with how you write your fics) is (specifically for Kayne in this instance) I pick an episode where that character is centric and listen to it a few times to more justify myself with whether "he/she/they would do this? Would they say this specific line?"
For example, with Patch Up (my eli/jacob oneshot on my ao3 for those wondering), I basically relistened to all of Eli and Jacob's interactions over the season, plus multiple rounds of S1E11 Home Sweet Home to really hone in the interactions plus dialogue that they have.
Eli's angst bit really helped me flesh out Jacob's monologue in the final resolution because writing it, the thing that would play in my mind is, "Yes, Eli would 100% let Jacob crash, he's too fond of him!" and how Jacob would panic a little more than necessary over Eli's injury because of his too recent traumas with both his mom and Jordan passing away.
For being scared about writing angst that's too corny; don't worry! You shouldn't be too worried about whether your writing style benefits everyone. I will say that for angst, it depends whether its more a high tension piece or a slow, agonising moment, and how many tropes you're trying to fit in.
Scenes during angst are tricky, espcially since i sometimes... write without double-checking LOL i usually let the character's emotions take over at this point by staying as close to canon and letting them speak through my words.
Sorry if this didnt answer your question very well aahhh for being a writer i sure can't explain very well > <;
he has a cool rock for you
please take it it is how he shows love
