Re the ‘trivorce’ post, I think that must also be where Apollo came from - Phoenix and Kristoph managed to break up so hard that *Trucy* developed a spontaneous brother.

See, I was coming at it more from the angle of "guy who somehow wasn't part of the throuple until after the breakup". A retroactive trouple.

But I like this angle too. We divorced so hard we adopted a guy just to have a custody battle over him.

I kinda picture a non-Kaibacorp Seto as the kind of person who tries to quadruple-major in chemistry, mechanical engineering, historical linguistics, and nuclear physics, then drops out sophomore year after a spectacular breakdown (which he wouldn’t *like*, but ‘academic failure’ has never equalled ‘sent back to the orphanage or Stepford Childed’ so he’s aware he’ll survive), so Mokuba might still spend time steering him towards better habits. Less time, tho, and he steers easier

ksdkfhdskjf poor alt seto but yeah i went down a similar route... i have him down as, during high school, top of the class, captain of the soccer team, captain of the robotics team, has a highly demanding kaibacorp engineering internship on the side, and, you know, still makes time to walk the family dog every night and do groceries and the dishes for his mom. a neurotic racehorse in any universe. he loves to excel but his parents and mokuba are worried he’s over-extending himself (where does all of our son’s energy come from?!) and make sure to reassure him they’re proud of him, even if he only majors in two things at MIT

Also, is ‘You let me get kidnapped!’ all Dub Mokuba has to say? The sub definitely had something about ‘Come with you? But big brother Noah has looked after me for my whole life!’ here. When Sub Noah started hypnobrainwashing he really went all in on it.

Oh yeah that--would have been a lot more clear than what we got, which was mostly just Mokuba being shy and shivering a lot. Not sure why the dub would have changed that.

I'm up for Breq defending Seivarden a little. Seivarden reminds herself not to complain when people don't treat her with deferential respect like they used to, keeps reminding herself of that even when people are treating her outright badly, Breq belatedly notices and within two seconds has invented a detached excuse to punch someone

I believe canonically they sold Luke's speeder, but I like this better!

Yeah, he mentions “You’ll have to sell your speeder” but I figured that was because they were leaving and also needed like, the extra two grand.

Not really related, but the thought of Thalassa hanging out with Dhurke and Datz has crossed over with that whole convo about Tibetan marriage traditions, and now I’m imagining Dhurke all curious like “You had to run away with Jove, you couldn’t just add him on with your previous two husbands?” “Well, you see, they were assholes,” Thalassa says, having considered correcting the idea that she was in a dysfunctional threeway marriage with Zak and Valant and then deciding no, ok, she kind of was

Listen, I so badly want Thalassa to hang out with Dhurke and Datz, mostly Dhurke, just like, in general, so the unrelatedness of this is not a concern in the slightest. 

Except I don’t really have anything to add. This is just, so good. Thalassa just sort of accepting yeah, you know what, even if it wasn’t technically that, it was basically emotionally that, and Dhurke’s misconception has probably still given him a better understanding of what the Troupe was like than if she tries to correct them.

Datz is later like “wait, you can’t be married to more than one person at a time in America” and Dhurke’s like “but consider that everything else she has told us about the Troupe makes it apparent that they skirt the boundaries of legality, and also common sense and morality but those aren’t as related to this particular point” and Datz is like “okay yeah that’s true”
