The snow seemed to be so relentless these days, the most fear that Frisk could have about it is if they were to melt and flood all the plants. But the cold probably was hard enough for them to counter, that was really unfortunate. Their own winter gear was already laden with heavy snow, but it wasn’t too bad, actually scratch that, it absolutely was. The blizzard had already hit this place of the continent. As to explain the reason that why the child was here, it was just out of pure curiosity.
But now... They really regretted this idea, their head seemed to hurt sporadically throughout this venture through this blizzard and scenes of things that never happened played in their mind. They couldn’t even see what the storm had inside, until they saw a shadow silhouette in the flurry of snow.
They attempted to run closer, but the gales of winds were exceptionally strong. With as much as they moved, it was to no avail and soon they were literally blown away with a loud yelp for assistance, hoping whoever was there could hear them.
There were many booths at the festival. Some of them were for art, the others, clothes. But there were quite a few that had games waiting. At the top of one of the booths was this very adorable stuffed elephant. It didn’t look like the cheap material that are used for those claw machines. No, it looked like a soft, fluffy, elephant. Xion had to have it.
Now here was the catch, it was one of those games where you had to get the ring to land on the colored bottle. After many attempts and a near empty wallet later, a defeated sigh came from the girl.
And of course, with the whirl of Winter and December casually sinking into Dearu, the annual carnival of the Festival of Lights was upon Frostias. And as always, Undyne would feel an exuberant amount of sudden determination and holiday spirit, so she always volunteered at one of the booths.
Maybe it was because she considered herself a helpful person. Maybe it was because she wanted Alphys to think of her as a good person. She couldn’t tell which one was the correct reason.
So, of course, what booth did she end up operating? The casual dunk tank. Although, to prevent the issues of frostbite, the inside of the tank was heavily heated, like a sauna, and the water like a hot spring. That was thanks to Papyrus knowing the right people and being a whole lot more charming than the cop herself was.
Although, no business was a bad sign. Every year, Undyne donated all of the proceeds from her respective booth to various charities, but strangely, nobody seemed to want to dunk a cop tonight. She’d have to advertise...
“Hey, kid!”
@iontidings
“You look like you’ve got a bit of an arm; wanna take a shot at the dunk tank? Only three buckaroos for three balls!”
Satoshi was always fond of the festival of lights. It was his favorite time of the year mostly because this is when his father went on holiday to escape the craziness of the entire thing. This was not only a bonus to giving Satoshi some alone time but also in helping plan some of the decorations for the festival.
His family had always been one of the main decorators fro the festival when they were not just left to him. People though had not forgotten the amazing skills of the Hikari’s to put life into every event. Satoshi every year had gotten a letter from the organizers asking if he would lend his skill to the event and every year he had shredded the letter. Just like he was suppose to. Every year people especially older people seemed to complain and resent the lack in quality of the decorations.
This year though was different. Over all it had been a good year that gave him a good confidence boost. Well and some more tendencies to break the rules. So, instead of merely staying home most of the time and going out once or twice to enjoy the festivities of the season, he was going to help make it.
So this year he wrote back. He offered to help make the decorations as long as he was able to have a place in the festival to sell his art work. Everything was agreed upon. Satoshi might have been worried about his father finding out but anyone who could have told him would be too busy trying to prevent crimes.
So, up to the days leading up to the festival Satoshi spent many hours and sleepless nights helping design the light displays and other decorations and then making his own artworks to sell. Of course he kept to the theme of the season with both of these and soon Frostias would know Hikari art again.

Hello and welcome to Alternate Origins’ first event! We’re very excited to bring this event to you, and hope that you all enjoy it! The Festival of Lights will be an annual event. It is always held in Frostias around the winter solstice, and is comprised of many activities, such as winter sports and arts competitions (at the professional and non-professional levels), a region wide snowball fight, a carnival booth set up in Frostias’s lower levels, and in the middle and top levels there are light displays. The light displays get more technologically advanced and creative as you ascend the mountain-- Frostias is the technological hub of Dearu, after all!
On the winter solstice, all the lighting displays in parks and on houses are lit, and lanterns are cast off cliffs of the mountains into the air to light the darkest night of the year.
The parks are also filled with many kinds of different ice sculptures, and the carnival booths host holiday foods of all kinds. While the Festival of Lights is Dearu’s winter celebration, they celebrate all sorts of different holidays as well. It’s not uncommon to see celebrations of other traditions.
Event FAQ:
Q: So in addition to celebrating Festival of Lights, can our characters celebrate other holidays from around this time of year?
A: Yes! Dearu is on Earth after all, if there’s a holiday that exists, your characters can celebrate that in addition to the Festival of Lights. Don’t fight too much on the Festivus airing of grievances though.
Q: Will the Oracle or the Familiars be around this event?
A: The Oracle doesn’t particularly enjoy the cold weather, but you could see a Familiar... If you’re lucky (or would that be unlucky?)
Q: Are there prizes?
A: The prizes are pending, you’ll have to wait until the event is over. We’re not judging threads or anything like that, but rest assured you will be awarded in some way if you participate.
