chuuya always insists on being called by his first name, while dazai, on the other hand, prefers his last name

i’m afraid to assume any, so i’ll rely only on canon

in BSD WAN!102, chuuya asks atsushi why he calls him by his first name (they don’t really know each other). atsushi replies that that’s how dazai refers to him. it’s an interesting detail that might suggest that dazai talks about chuuya quite often in the ADA, and that he has a kind of privilege others don’t

in the mafia, evryone generally calls chuuya by his first name, but with respectful suffixes like “-kun” or “-san.” dazai, however, just calls him “chuuya,” or teases him by deliberately using polite forms

a particularly notable speech pattern shows up in SB. throughout the novel, dazai refers to chuuya in the third person (saying “chuuya” instead of “you”), which he doesn’t do with other characters. this creates the impression that he singles chuuya out from the rest

and considering the context of SB, it could also be dazai’s way of emphasizing chuuya’s humanity

chuuya also doesn’t use honorifics when addressing dazai, and I think neither of them needs that, given the nature of their relationship

in the school AU in mayoi (unfortunately i couldn’t find the exact dialogue, it was from an old event), chuuya used to call dazai by his first name when they were kids, but stopped as he got older

and btw they still kind of hate each other

AO3 Spam Warning!!

A few people have already posted about it, but I’ll do the same. 

There’s currently a spam attack going on AO3 rn via guest comments linking to adult sites. I suggest going through and reporting all the spam comments and then setting things to registered users only. There’s a mass edit button on settings that allows you to do that for all your stories! Be safe.
