It’s inspired by @ask-the-yugoslavbunch header image because I really like how it looks.

At first I thought drawing them on a map with traditional regions (the Littoral (Gorizia and Istria/Coastal region), Lower, Inner and Upper Carniola, Styria, Carinthia and Prekmurje), but this map looked better. Also, Carinthia has been drawn partially in Austria on purpose (which isn’t because I ship them so hard. South of Austrian Carinthia is mostly populated by Slovenes).

//Happy Easter to all celebrating! Above is a small digital painting guest-starring Slavia Friulana (slo. Benečija or Beneška Slovenija), who is otherwise a region in Italy. Slovenia in a pink apron is colouring Easter eggs (slo. pirhi/pisanice/pisanke/remenke (depends on where in Slovenia you’re located)) in onion peels and the girls are decorating eggs in traditional ways typical for their regions. In the background, you can see potica on the counter and ham dressed in pastry baking in the oven.

Fun facts: Karst wears a ‘teran red’ shirt (teran is from that region), Prekmurje’s flower crown is made out of daffodils, snake’s heads (flowers, not actual snake heads) and daisies (the flowers can be found in three Prekmurje located muncipalities’ coat-of-arms), and Bela Krajina has a blossom of wild garlick in her hair (a town in White Carniola region is named after wild garlic).
