reminiscing about an rp I had with this person from New Zealand, who rp-ed you guessed it New Zealand. They had Tonga and Samoa oc's, and their running gimmick was fighting over who was older.

It eventually in the rp was revealed they were actually twins, (Samoa was older by a few min tho so take that :) ). It was literally my favorite thing holy Gauc I loved them so much I got to rp my Kingdom of Hawaii oc a lot it was great.

North and South APH NZ?

I doubt anyone will see this considering how dead the fandom is, especially on here but.. WHY IS THERE NOT A NORTH AND SOUTH FOR NEW ZEALAND??? Like I was thinking about how there’s North and South Italy, East and West Germany, why is there no North and South New Zealand? A country that actually is split into two islands. 

Like the South would be canon New Zealand, since he has all the sheep and is always in a good mood, but the North would be a character who was the official founder of New Zealand, who would go by the countries Maori name Aotearoa. It’s also canon that aph NZ loves and is on good terms with England, however Aotearoa would be the exact opposite since their history with Britain is one littered with blood and hatred, especially since them and their people were literally ripped from their homes and forced to fight for Britain in WW1. Not to mention the fact that Britain almost succeed in completely wiping out the Maori language and culture, considering children were beaten if they spoke any other language but English. 

So their beef with England runs deep even though England himself doesn’t really care. So I can see their character being mad tsundere as result, like extremely cold and distant at the start (like good luck finding them distant), but really sweet and helpful once you get to know them. They’d have a somewhat good but teasing relationship with South, they’d also have good relationships with all the polynesian islands, especially the Cook Islands, who would be their little sibling(s) considering Maori did land there, they have Cook Island Maori and the island does have political ties to NZ. Also considering their language and culture was dying, Aotearoa is always excited to share it with others, especially Native Americans, who actually did link up and connect a few years back. You can look it up if you’d like. 

Not only that but even the story of who they were before they become Aotearoa, Maori people come from a place called Hawaiki, it’s a place where we believe all polynesians came from Hawaiki, it has different names in different cultures, so that could’ve been their previous name before setting out. But like imagine how iconic that could’ve been? All the islands living with their cousin Hawaii before finding their independence and moving out on their own, creating their own language and cultures. Since Hawaii lives with America, they don’t see them much, besides Samoa because they switch between America and NZ all the time but mainly stay with Aotearoa. Which they lowkey can’t judge because Aotearoa does the same thing to Australia tbh. Their relationship would still be the same, but they would have so have crushes on each other but at the same times can’t stand each other to do anything about it. Also Australia, Aotearoa and NZ would meet up every ANZAC day and just vent and bitch about England all day for forcing them into war all the time, even NZ if you get him drunk enough. Also NZ would be the only person Aotearoa would share his PTSD and poor mental health with, whilst Australia would be like a safe space for them where they can just let loose and be themselves.

Also to end this post I will say.. I 100% accept that Aotearoa was the edgy emo kid back in the days, because if you look at them compared to their bright coloured and floral cousins.. It’s no surprise why Black Parade was number 1 for so long in NZ-

Talia (American Samoa) assorted headcanons and thoughts:

is pretty impulsive

has a nose piercing

so Alfred is the definition of a chill parent. he doesn’t care if anyone dyes their hair or gets a tattoo, so when Talia got her nose pierced he was pretty much like “okay, cool, are you taking care of it? are you cleaning it right?”

and then Talia goes to Aleki’s (independent Samoa) for the summer and he’s like. the hell is that? and Talia, because she’s a sarcastic shit, responds have you never seen a nose piercing before? 

speaking of Aleki, Talia usually spends part or all of the summer with him. He insists it’s so Talia doesn’t get corrupted by Alfred and become an imperialistic bastard but everyone knows its because he misses his kid sister

and honestly Aleki has no right to be upset about the nose piercing because Talia came to stay with him and went back to Alfred with her malu tattooed so

Talia can box/kick-box like a pro. she’s good at it because 1) she liked the idea of being able to punch someone properly, and 2) Aleki found out she was learning and started picking fights with her so she could practice

it should be noted that at one point Aleki was a boxer

plays trumpet because it was the most obnoxious one she could pick when the music teacher said she couldn’t play drums because they already had enough drummers and she had to find a new instrument

Talia is of the mindset where if you force her to do something, she’s going to do it but also make you regret it

trust me, everyone regrets that Talia can play the trumpet
