Aphaneramma was an amphibian of the Triassic (251-199.6 million years ago). It was of the order Temnospondyli. Fossils of Aphaneramma have been found at Svalbard,Norway and in Australia and the western part of the U.S., for example, in Arizona. Although Aphaneramma was an amphibian, it resembled a crocodile. The long snout was similar to that of gavials, which are reptiles related to crocodiles.
Fish were the major portion of the diet of Aphaneramma. It lived in areas where there were marshes, rivers, lakes, and ponds. Aphaneramma was about 2 meters long. The limbs were weak, which indicates that it moved slowly while on land.
