Vampyr (1932) dir. Carl Theodor Dreyer
A Page Of Madness (1926)
No man, no woman, no creature, no corpse could ever be as beautiful as Doctor Lawrence Gordon, half-alive and delirious with adrenaline and agony, bleeding out rapidly, pale and shaking but still taking the time to reassure Adam even as they both know it's a lie...
And for that matter, none could be as beautiful as Adam Faulkner-Stanheight, terrified and hurt and exhausted, heart racing and mind dazed from this unbearable torment of captive survival, young and desperate to live.
Human.
My favorite is the ghoul or the vampire or the zombie because I am always constantly terrified of the deаd flesh which once lived coming to drag me down into a hellish cessation or worse eternal awareness. It drives me to incoherency so rarely often so commonly, to madness, to fevered rambling large- and luminous-eyed, wild, clawing fingers, muttering low and dreamlike fright - I worry about it constantly it lives inside me it gnaws inside me it is full of sweet little teeth and they are all of them sunk deep into my viscera, red, tough, deep, raw, wet, screaming, shrieking as the tendons always do when torn apart
The heat through the cloth, the sharp cloth.
Through the cloth, the sharp heat, the heat.
Sharp heat, through sharp cloth.
I'm there again - visions of myself on the rooves of the tallest buildings, the wind lashing, sharp and scornful of feverish flesh, cynical of desperation, wise handmaiden of time and this creature just a bird searching for the hard glass of its end
Hurting aching rotting wet decay in bleaching summer intensity, my bones scorched black and my steaming flesh red & raw crawling with gluttony those little fat maggots and nothing like them so come come watch the show I'll be breathing still and eyeless (the early wound) but glazed with agonies deeper than human understanding and the sky above so hatefully blue it shrieks white instead
i can’t even begin to tell y’all how much i like the lyrics to slipknot’s vermilion they’re both raw and their flow borders on poetic and it’s so crazy how carefully crafted it is like you don’t even have to dissect every sentence you can just feel it hitting you MAN i can only wish to someday write something that has a similar effect to what this song does to me
