It really bothers me that people, mostly exclusionist aphobes, think asexuality should be excluded from sex education. Because holy shit, why the fuck do y'all hate aces so much? Why you do want ace kids to feel broken and alone until they're 17 or older? I was lucky enough to have sex education that was actually fucking useful when I was 13-14, it covered consent and how to have a healthy relationship, we learned about different types of birth control and how to use condoms, it even included LGBTQ+ identities. But probably the one thing it didn't include was asexuality and as a result I felt like a broken freak for another three years. I was so fucking confused because I thought people were hot, but I didn't want to do anything and everything and everyone around me was telling me that, "you're a teenager, you're supposed to want sex and be obsessed with boys (or girls as people would privately ask)" It was so uncomfortable and confusing that I tried to force myself to be interested. Until I learned that asexuality was not only a thing, it was a spectrum of orientations, I assumed that I was just a freak who couldn't function normally and I wouldn't wish that on anyone I'm not saying that sex education should cover every Ace and aro identity or that we needs to go into the nitty gritty of them But I am saying that it would have been nice to know that Neither was an option for sexuality (And yeah, some kids might mistakenly identify as ace, but it's not like anyone is forcing them to be stick to it. And most kids are starting to become aware of sexuality and romantic relationships by the time sex ed rolls around)
