Hi! You've created a lot of songs based off the music from Touhou. My questions are: how good would you consider yourself to be on the actual games? What's your favorite game? Have you ever completed a lunatic challenge rating? What made you want to start creating music for this specific fan base? (Extra questions from my fiance: would you ever consider creating a remix from the Golden Sun series soundtrack?) We are both huge fans, keep up the great work!

Lord, I’m terrible at Touhou! But my favorite has to be Perfect Cherry Blossom. Lunatic is just plain beyond me and my hand-eye coordination at this time.I used to do more Touhou music on my own, but lately it’s easier to just do it every time a new TEB is coming up. I liked the music, I liked how the games looked... so I started making it based on that!

(For the record, I *adore* the Golden Sun series! But I’m not sure if I’d be able to fit in a remix any time soon...)

Holiday Flash Microfic prompt: swampshipping give gifts to each other ♡

my brain has no idea what i meant by “flash microfics” and i STILL have feelings over the immediately-post-TLA era and also i don’t know Anything please don’t @ me about how this probably makes no physical sense

(i mean: if you have things to say about how daylight and seasons would behave in a flat earth world please do @ me that sounds fascinating, but i certainly didn’t think about it too hard)

Piers is fascinated by the entire thing.

He’s seen snow, of course, at both sides of the world, but Vale is the first time he has stayed in the same place long enough to witness seasons. They left Prox and arrived in Vale in autumn, and this is the first time he’s seen winter move in slowly. Apparently snowbanks are a completely different concept when you know what the ground under it looked like without it a week before.

Felix is having the opposite problem. He knows time is viscous in Lemuria, but hadn’t travelled the entire mental path to the realization that they don’t have seasons.

“Nothing changes,” Piers repeats once more. “Ever.”

“Then you have no solstices, either?” Kraden notes, his old owly eyes twinkling with interest. “The days are always the same length?”

“Is that not the point of days?!” Piers stresses, and he’s sounding almost panicked now. “What are you talking about??”

Jenna, Garet and Isaac have heard this before and have too much to attend to, in Winter Solstice season, to listen to a repeat lesson, but no one in Prox ever bothered to explain to Felix the reason behind the half-year darkness, so he sits with them around the communal fire that night.

“And that’s why we celebrate the return of light,” Kraden concludes. “In Vale, with the exchange of presents.”

Piers’s frown only deepens, digging lines in his youth-smooth brow. “Then I must prepare.”

They try to tell him it’s fine, he doesn’t have to fret over a custom that is not his, everyone is already thankful to him for helping out so much with the reconstruction, but he won’t budge.

Sheba is the same, and much more articulate about her reasons — “We don’t want to be the only ones left out! Or are we only welcome to do the work, and not to have fun?!” — so that closes the debate.

Two weeks before Solstice Day, of course, Sheba is a wailing wreck over the stress of finding everyone a fitting and thoughtful present, in a foreign halfway-built village short on resources as winter is setting in.

Piers… is quieter about it.

On the morning of the Solstice, he finds Felix in the vegetable patch.

The crops are doing fine, with so many Venus adepts in town, though all they can really do is help the plants survive the winter. Of course, Felix has coaxed the occasional fruit to instant maturity for a snack in his time, but such things are never able to constitute a real, filling meal, just like how the water Piers creates can’t sate thirst forever. No amount of Psynergy would be able to truly feed the entire village over more than a day. For long term sustenance, they have to wait for spring like everyone.

Piers kneels down next to Felix and spreads his bare hands on the frosted ground. Melting would be more of Mars’ realm, but Felix watches tiny streams of moisture appear below the thin layer of translucent ice, trickle their way to the marked spots and dig into the earth. He puts his palms on his raised knees, lays his cheek on them, curling up, and closes his eyes and reaches his mind to the roots below. Just to check that they got that water, and to give them one more small spark of vital energy, just a little encouragement.

When he opens his eyes, Piers says, “We make a good team.”

Felix only hums in assent. They’ve established this a long time ago already, in battle and in exploration and in sailing.

“I don’t have a present for you,” Piers announces, calmly. There is no trace of guilt or embarrassment in his voice; this is a statement of fact, not an apology. “I thought of offering to build you a house.”

Piers is looking at the crops, not at him, but Felix curls up a little tighter, hangs his face down to hide his mouth in the shelter of his knees.

The priority so far has been to have roof and a bed to fit everyone. They started with what will later be the inn, and the sanctum, and the townhouse, and a couple more huge buildings that they’ll figure out what to make of later, and at first there were at least twenty bunks in each room, and when the children were brought back from Vault they had to share beds with siblings, but now all of Vale is in Vale and warm and dry at night. They have recently moved on to building slightly smaller family houses, more spread out, more personalized. Felix’s family’s is halfway-done and will have five bedrooms, and it’s incredible enough to live with his whole family again — he never expected to see either of his grandparents again, and his aunt is delighted at the idea to be sharing a house with the brother she’d thought she’d lost. And he’ll even have his own room. It’s something to be thankful for. No one has even mentioned planning to build single-person houses yet, and probably won’t before summer at least.

“But,” Piers continues, “I got the feeling you don’t want that.”

He can’t see Felix’s mouth.

“Same thing,” Felix mutters. “For you.”

“But I don’t want a house here either.”

“Yeah. Like I said. Same thing.”

Now Piers turns to look at him, and smiles. Felix shuffles a little in place and unfolds just a little, just enough to set his chin on top of his knees, let Piers see his own, tiny, smile.

Piers’ face shifts back into stern gravity and he says, “I can’t gift you my ship, though. Especially since I’ll be staying on it.”

Felix nods, just as seriously, and thinks for a bit. Piers never makes him feel pressured to speak up fast. Eventually, in his own time, he suggests: “Then, a sailing good luck charm?”

Piers also takes his time, though not as long, to consider this, frowning thoughtfully. “How about I show you how to make one? Then we’ll have two.”

Felix feels his smile widen just a little, and he lets it. “That sounds like good presents.”

Whats your fav game and why?? If your fav game is a remake, why do you like it better than the original?

GOSH, I'm torn between Spirit Tracks and Majora's Mask 3D. Spirit Tracks because its dungeons, atmosphere, and portrayal of Zelda were some of the best in the whole series, and it serves as the ultimate testament to the dev team's willingness to bring the best out of virtually any idea no matter how poorly it was executed in the past.

I hadn't gotten the original N64 version, but Majora's Mask also had amazing and dark atmosphere, and the fact that it was built so much around the side quests and NPC interaction made its world feel so alive.

Honestly, I feel like they could be completely tied as my favorite!

Hello! So some of the chessex borealis dice sets (like magenta) are now out of print. Do you know of any other brands/sets similar to the borealis that someone could buy? I looove the magenta borealis (and other out of prints), but Ive kind of resigned myself to the fact that I probably wont get them. (Love your blog by the way!!!)

Sadly, only Chessex and Crystal Caste have really tried the borealis effect, and all of CC’s are already long discontinued. Here’s a group picture of all the Crystal Caste borealis style line:

Blue and green moonstones make for reasonable substitutes for Chessex aquerple and clear borealis, but that’s about all...and they’re nearly as pricey. Honestly though, I don’t know why more brands haven’t given it a try! Borealis dice are so lovely ♥

it’s Iphis then. not extremely impulsive, but the most, since all the others are either apathetic or overanxious.

good: a buddy of mine saw iphis take his shirt off in the shower, and he said that iphis had an eight-pack. that iphis was shredded(iphis is shredded, but also super prude. and trans, but mostly super prude.)

good(?): iphis is so suave and so charming with girls! and what a gentleman! never a word out of place! what a casanova right~(… he loses any capacity to think when pretty girls talk to him and just vaguely flusters about trying not to be rude, silently screaming inside the entire time. he just has a resting blank face.)

bad: iphis once broke a guy’s nose with a table for trying to hit on his girlfriend(it was an accident. iphis panicked and got flustered and accidentally flipped the table in the guy’s face.)

bad: who, that iphis guy? eehh, he’s not so scary if you just get his girlfriend.(A BAD RUMOR TO HAVE GOING.)

fake: iphis and ianthe are dating.(they 1) are engaged (arranged), 2) have never kissed, 3) are p much the only people unaware that the other is just as silly in love right back.)

Halloween ask!! Obviously, you LOVE Halloween. What are some memorable Halloween moments in your life?

Ahhhh! Um, when I was a kid, my paternal grandparents’ neighborhood used to go ALL OUT for Halloween and Christmas. (The Christmas thing was actually popular back in the early 90s in my city, but the same people all really loved going all out for every holiday.) So you’d get to see yards decked out in spooky decorations, and everyone was super generous with candy. It was amazing! Another time, at my other grandmother’s neighborhood, this guy went all out with his yard and costume. It was such a blast seeing people get into the holidays! I love decorating, too, so that’s a big thing for me! I might not this year because my mom’s puppy, Aranea, has been sinking her teeth into everything lately. I’m afraid to lose decorations, even if I decorate high up. She can jump. :’)I might just do my room up in spooky stuff, who knows? :’D(And I’m sad, I have new lights I got on clearance last year, too...! So I think I might do up my room.)And I also love baking stuff like chocolate cupcakes and decorating them in spooky sprinkles. I have a sweet tooth these days (funny enough, I did not as a kid, and barely touched my Halloween candy once I stole all the dark chocolate and Reese’s/KitKats out) so I love making cupcakes and whatnot. This year, I want to make jello shots in the shape of ghosts.And the past few years, my Halloween sales combined with giveaways. They’re my favorite part of the year, and one of the only reasons I slipped back into selling amigurumi like this temporarily. :’DThank you for the ask!
