Beautiful, disturbing, and strangely quiet. Looking at these, I immediately get that Clive Barker feeling too. Horror, beauty, flesh, and something almost sacred.

THE CALM BEFORE

a quiet, gentle piece that i worked on to ease my nerves as the hurricane rolls in. thistle talks to the undead as if they’re still alive; though they cannot percieve him, they can enjoy the peace.

initiatial idea below cut! i didn’t plan on finishing this piece at all but i really just needed to focus on something for a few hours…

thistle can talk to the zombies. because he's half infected himself, they register him as one of their own. initially, thistle was quick to taking advantage of this in his youth; quick to kill and quick to act. but as he got older, he started to respect the dead as their own beings-- they were all people once, one way or another.

currently, thistle does as best he can to humanely cull the dead, those that remain he offers the comfort of company for the time he's there, even if the zombie is incapable of understanding what he's saying or why he's here.
