satanic panic byler yap
"byler was never in the cards" SHUT UP
I was watching a youtube video and they were talking abt the 80's satanic panic. Using as a reference the treatment Eddie recieved in s4 of st. To exemplify it they used the clip where he's reading a magazine article written abt dnd.
[Dungeons and dragons. At first regarded as a harmless game of makebelief, now has bith parents and psychologists concerned. Studies have linked violent behaviour to the game. Saying it promotes satanic worship, ritual sacrifices, sodomy, suicide and even murder]
I have no idea why they dropped the satanic panic in s5. Because they had the perfect lay out to continue down that road.
We saw in s4 that, as vecna worked on his plan, the people of hawkings thought they were witnessing some of the things said before [satanic worship, ritual sacrifices, murder]
but bein that s4 was the most byler heavy, and that churchgate could've been a thing, given increasing the satanic panic, and that one scene when they arrive from cali
there most have been a more symbolism heavy storyline for byler in s5
(it just feels like they had a very different idea for s5 and just threw it in the trash. bye bye completely erased)
satanic panic x apocalypse x people confiding in what they know (church/god) x sodomy/homosexuality becoming a sensitive topic mixed with the aids crisis
that line lucas tells jason abt normal being a fucking psyco or something like that
mike being confronted once again with the reality that people don't quite like his and will's bond (or just Will and he's left face to face with his own morals and wants and allat)
