Poetry: Sunset Hills

I used to live in a neighborhood with three of my best friends.

Dedicated to Sam, Madi, and Karen.

Long were the summers of my youth. I awoke to birds' songs outside my window. No time wasted, no yard undiscovered. My friends and I, in hand, ran barefoot for days, Down dirt and asphalt roads like Vagabonds, wild and carefree. We came home that were not our own (But the welcomes, all the same) With tanlines and streetlights.

Our stomping grounds, imprinted on calluses, Four friends, forever known as with each other. These memories, favorite of my own, With freckles, dirt, and faded scars know Long were the summers of my youth
