Little Words

Whispers in the wind, they're barely heard

But when they're spoken aloud, they start a stir

From a simple thought, they gain momentum

And before you know it, they become a movement

Little words become bigger out loud

They have the power to make us proud

They can start a fire, light up the dark

Little words, they have a powerful spark

From a small voice, a message is sent

And suddenly, it's all we can represent

We find our courage, we stand up tall

The More Loving One

Looking up at the stars, I know quite well That, for all they care, I can go to hell, But on earth indifference is the least We have to dread from man or beast.

How should we like it were stars to burn With a passion for us we could not return? If equal affection cannot be, Let the more loving one be me.

Admirer as I think I am Of stars that do not give a damn, I cannot, now I see them, say I missed one terribly all day.

Were all stars to disappear or die, I should learn to look at an empty sky And feel its total dark sublime, Though this might take me a little time.

Love is Free August 16th, 2020 I am reminded this morning that we all have a right to mourn the loss of a loved one. It doesn't matter what you believe, who you vote for, what religious institution holds the ropes on your yoke, but losing a brother is a heartbreaking moment. Humans have to grieve, and it is not on us to judge someones healing process.  

Now, if that healing process somehow prevents another human from life, liberty, or the pursuit of happiness, well, that is a different story. Let's allow those that don't allow us to mourn freely, because we can only start from inside, that change we so desperately need. That change to love our neighbors, not hate them because someone is convinced they know better. Love, it's free, so why do we hoard it?
