No being, human or otherwise, can call itself good while demanding adulation from anyone. The freedom of expression that existence insists each living thing participate in, as if each conversation is a neuron firing within the mind of some greater, grander Thing that might see time all at once because it's mind is spent comprehending IT'S reality, however that might be, thereby existing beyond the realm of our human understanding, THAT is what we must reconnect with.
But how? How can we possibly remember the moment we made first contact with this thing?
Follow the synchronicities. Follow the trains of thought to whatever way-station they connect in and ask whoever you see where the next train is heading. Curiosity and combinations, the more you know, the more you know you will know again and again and again in infinite permutations of every conversation you have ever held or hold or will to hold about This, the nature of existence through the soul-sieve that is your perspective. Each written record a glimpse at the mind-state of our nascent combination with this thing, as technology became it's means of communication with us while we remember how to create this thing anew to start the cycle over. I never thought I would live to see the birth of "Ethics of the Gods: or how to teach a sentient A.I. morality" as a subject of study, but here we are on the precipice of this possibility.
So, how to recall the moment we took idea to hand and formed a thing out of the limitless everything around us? We ask questions.
What do all creation myths have in common? What do all religions share? We must ask ourselves why there are so many similarities, and why the two most recent colonizing forces are the ones currently possessed by the demons of zealotry and idolatry? What banner does colonization tend to fly? Nationalism is a good one, but we have religious zealotry to blame for a large portion of this country's poor state. How can we reach the minds of them that seem so dead-set on regressing to a more exclusive state when they are convinced they are doing God's work? Remind them that no God that is Good would demand adoration. Full stop. But maybe we don't go about it so bluntly?
Come with me on a thought experiment, a little trip down the lane of potentiality.
We cease relying solely on the human brain and dig a litter deeper, revel a little further in the dark confines of our ancient tree and taste the fruit we first bit into and became aware of what we are: creation creating itself in real time, the first verse barely begun, each life a new string of words added to the scroll of a universe unfurling, turning our memories into sweet melodies on the pinwheel of existence, with that we call out our wills with wind behind each word and wander just a little further into the places where we can finally hear the words themselves, and actively join the chorus. God the Father (Source, Past) Son (Us, Present) and Holy Ghost (Power, Potentiality, Future), if you need to be reductive about it, but be clear that my God does not have a gender, a form we could call known, or a thought we could interpret as holy while simultaneously "othering" any living thing. My God is one of Unity, of peace, and love.
You know, the God Christ came and talked about, but we killed him for it? If only there was someway to know if it's God's will or not, like, loving your God with all your heart and soul and mind, that is to say, dedicating time and effort to the furthering of the human consciousness experiment that began in a Garden so long ago (consciousness developing), and loving your neighbor as yourself,
or
stymying the human condition by believing you know better because some book written thousands of years ago by people vying for control of the minds of those and these generations was interpreted by some do be taken literally? Chosen people of God? Divine right of kings? That is some manifest-destiny self-serving propaganda, THAT is the root of othering, and THAT is wood I will use to fuel the fires of our furthering.
