alright so lexi and i (@apolloes) were just discussing how we would have liked Trials of Apollo to be catered to an older audience (the LOK to PJO’s ATLA) and it would have capitalized more on Apollo’s 4500yr old experiences and come across less.... whiny and petulant.
AND THEN. AN IDEA. GOD TIERED.
ETHAN NAKAMURA AS APOLLO’S DEMIGOD HANDLER. I mean... the doors of death were open, he could have come out for a second chance. Think of the possibilities.
the perfect balance of revenge and justice and restraint
ethan rages against zeus being unfair, apollo just wants his dad’s love like every other demigod with their parent
apollo wants revenge and ethan tempers him by showing him how he can learn from us and not repeat the mistakes of his father or the titans
important: Ethan SHUTS DOWN any whiny apollo nonsense cuz demigods suffer all the time and learn to deal with it (I don’t like whiny apollo)
ethans penance for his actions
PERCY AND ETHAN
ANNABETH!!! AND ETHAN!!!!
(leo makes ethan a golden mechanical eye)
learnings from Kronos days
cameo maybe???? when ethan meets jason and hes like yo youre that dude i saw on mt tam that one time and jason is like EYEPATCH BOY
deeper conversations on the role of the gods and forgetting promises.
the importance of chosen family, exploring more about where ethan fits in. Where Apollo fits in with Artemis and Leto and the rest of the Olympians. Ethan watching CHB grow from the mistakes and Apollo thinking of ways to improve the camp.
the role of prophecies explored better than just sources taken over by evil romans - how a prophecy defined Luke and Percy and everyone they interacted with + how the prophecies affected Apollo
Ethan would be an excellent foil to Apollo who can be callous on a bad day and soft on a good day and Ethan is just nothing but the balancing of the scales. Tempering Apollo to understand his consequence.
ethan. nico. interaction.
I just miss Ethan Nakamura and it would have elevated the books? So much - you could explore so many themes on environmentalism, politics, how our civilization affects the gods and vice versa, balance between humanity and divinity, within our friends and famly and more. im so emotional
