Today was a day of fixing little bugs in my project. I fixed a variety of small little quirks that had a negative effect on the user experience. It didn't feel like a terribly productive day as I wasn't adding a bunch of new features, but I think the things that I did were necessary and it was time well spent.
I also managed to finagle with bootstrap and get it working decently with my project index page. Apparently bootstrap doesn't particularly like it when you have a dynamic number of rows, dynamic size of the elements in the row, and dynamic number of things in the row. I was really surprised how hard this was to figure out, and from my research online, I gather a huge number of people have had this problem too. Its ridiculous that a good bootstrap solution hasn't been implemented yet, and everyone has to resort to hacky work-arounds.

It was the coolest, also I learned a lot about ActiveRecord, and the Google Maps api.

Spent today and the weekend fleshing out rewards, and a user page. A user can now log into the app and click on the reward of a project to purchase it. Rewards display how many times a user has purchased it. When a reward is purchased, the price of the reward is added to the amount of money a project has funded. If a project is deleted, the rewards associated with it are also deleted. A user can go to a user details page to see which projects they have created, backed, and which rewards they have purchased.

Today I got up and running with bootstrap. Bootstrap involves nesting elements in a TON of <div>’s. Yesterday my code was looking pretty clean. That is no longer the case. My render functions (out of necessity) are significantly longer. Getting it set up was a pain in the butt, but now I have a pretty decent looking site that is (almost) responsive.

Work continued on the project today with getting the react-flux up and running.

Today was the last day of react curriculum. We spent the day working on benchBnB. I managed to successfully get google maps to work on my page, and dynamically render the description of all of the benches that were within range of the map using react/flux. I have not worked with google maps before, I was surprised how simple it was to get basic functionality working. Looking forward to starting final projects tomorrow!
Tying it all together - w7d5
We worked on the creation of a clone of AirBnB which ties together everything we have learned so far, and provides more time working with apis.
