Plant of the Day
Wednesday 5 February 2020
Despite being a native of South America the annual, Nicandra physalodes (shoo-fly plant, apple of Peru, Peruvian bluebell), obviously flowered well during the rainy season in Lalibela, Ethiopia, as the plants are covered with seed heads. A member of the Solanaceae (nightshade family) this plant may appear in gardens in Britain resulting from bird seed mixes.
