Dad is home from the hospital. He is no worse for the wear. In fact, went to, and stayed in, the hospital, for vertigo. The same vertigo he’s had, off and on, for the last several years you ask? Yes, that same vertigo.

In all truthfulness, I’m just glad he’s ok. That’s the main thing. Also too, that my brother is here and was able to manage things locally while I was out of town. This crap is dad to a T. I’m not mad and in fact, don’t get mad about his antics anymore. It’s been the most peaceful thing I’ve been able to do for myself in a long, long time.

Spent yesterday getting his house sorted. Any chores. Cleaning. Food for multiple meals. Some freezer things restocked. The kids played while dad and I talked. It was good.

There’s a set of lamp Jesus’ - it’s a pair. I’m keeping one and my cousin, I told her she is getting the other one (it is in better shape). It’s an inside joke and we will both keep them. Forever.

The middle photo is a stack of old windows. The second stack in the ‘make my own greenhouse out of old windows’ project. Do I know the first thing about building a frame? Porch? Window involving anything? No? Cool. Typical M.O. Jen style.

Today. Was for me.

I slept in - well as sleep in ish as one can get while not living alone, having pets, neighbors, young kids. Had coffee. Drank it leisurely - same goes as above, as leisure as one can in present circumstances. Then I putzed.

Puzting is different than puttering or tinkering. I can get into that some time if you must know lol essentially, putzing is wandering about, in your house/yard/around, wherever it is you have something you are wanting to do. Decide the best way to go about it (your task/plan). Set that into motion.

While we were in Georgia, had to get some fresh, in season, Georgia peaches. Also, first batch of apples are coming off the trees in orchards this time. So I, on a flip flopping whim, as in, driving to the cabin, to stay (last several posts), to pick up fresh fruit on the way home, and preserve it.

So I fucking did.

That’s my first batch of home jarred water bath canned Georgia peaches. It made a full dozen pints and 4 quarts all together. I could have made more but I saved some for small freezer batches for ice cream syrup topping to use later.

First time canning by myself. I bought the jars and did the whole thing. I would, if I regularly decide to do this, get the specialty tools for canning, and may consider pressure batching. All in all, it was really cool. I did the damn thing. We have peaches for the fall/winter and I feel super home-maker-y.

This weekend, apple sauce ((rubs hands together in glee)).

Have I any more experience making apple sauce than I do canning peaches you ask?
