Bhekithemba

In Muriel's route he wears his kings garb and some casual clothes during his stay with Nadia to discuss how the two countries will work together moving forward.

Muriel's route main outfit:

For Nadia's route, his outfits are more toned down but still colorful and reflect his Matabele heritage.

Claudia, Mayihlome, and Bibi taught him as much as they could about their history as a family without him getting too overwhelmed. His apparel with Nadia changes once he stays at the palace to help solve the mystery of Lucio's death and his romance with her.

Generally, he tends to like clothes that aren't too tighf or loose and he prefers a clean but colorful style to his outfits.

Apprenticember PT. 2

Day 1

Name: Bhekithemba Abara

Pronouns: He/Him

Sexuality and romantic: Heterosexual and Heteroromantic. He's straight but he's not "Straight".

Personality: Bhekit is a kind, athletic, and fun-loving young man that values his loved ones and honors his responsibilities. He's particularly protective of Mayihlome and his daughter Nomvula (who exists in every route but Nadia's) whom he has with his wife, Gugulethu the princess of Matabele.

He has a bit of a temper that can explode when pushed enough and doesn't suffer fools who cross him. And will confidently call them out.

Appearance: He's 6'5 and muscular with a boxer's build. Dark brown warm skin with his hair cut into a short but neat hairstyle. Bhekit is quick to smile wide when in good spirits and it shows around his eyes the most.

Likes: Peanut butter, fruit particularly loquat and guava, Tsoro, Mancala, music, dancing, singing, playing with his familiar Bibi, sports, braiding his sibling's and daughter's hair, nail polish, being outside, being and feeling clean

Dislikes: Condescending people, failure, being second best, his clothes getting messed up, looking dusty, bad haircuts, poking at his failures, the nickname "Boy king", passive-aggressive people, sloppy work and planning

Apprenticember Day 4

Claudia, Bhekithemba, and Anele have met the courtiers but the way I have the courtiers down is different from canon.

There was someone on Tumblr that mentioned the courtiers having glamour on them to cover up their actual appearance from the public but the apprentice can see through that. Not only am I subscribing to that, but I’ll also add that since my apprentices are from a country that drilled the lesson of staying away from from dark spirits/demons, an intuition that sticks even after their death, all three of them are wary of the courtiers.

I can see Anele being the most suspicious of them and she is not shy about expressing it, even subtly.

Claudia will be suspicious but she’ll be polite while questioning everything.

Bhekithemba would try to be chill but Vulgora and Vlastomil would start to rub him the wrong way.

All three of them would be the most freaked out by Valdemar, since their so...out there. For Bhekithemba and Anele, Volta would take second place  because she’s so small, I can see them accidentally run into her a few times due to the height difference.

But Valerius, that’s something special. Claudia would hold the biggest grudge and attitude towards him until the end of Muriel’s route for spilling wine on her and ruining her clothes. They weirdly enough get along pretty well after Muriel’s route and Muriel surprisingly becomes friends with him.

Bhekithemba was almost ready to throw hands but he calmed down and threw shade instead. “I question your leadership if you can’t even hold a glass of wine right.”

Anele would just trade death glares with him from then on. Up this times three when Anele meets the court as Matabele’s army general when she’s part of Bhekit’s entourage.

Part 2

Bhekithemba's friends

For Bhekithemba, he has the same amount of friends as his older sister does in her routes.

Selasi: He is the main friend all three of my apprentices share but Bhekit's relationship with him is slightly different. I could see Claudia confiding in Selasi about what happened and how her brother is back from death once Asra and Muriel are gone.

The baker did what he could to help the Abara siblings when he could, especially making their favorite doughnuts as a treat.

Bhekit when he was being rehabilitated and afterward would help Selasi around his bakery. The Abara brother, despite being a mystery to his neighbors, easily attracted paying customers due to his looks and personality.

Other times he would just stop in just to talk whenever the other wasn't busy.

Andi, the fruit juice vendor: He's a middle-aged vendor that tends to hang around the Vesuvian fountain, where he and Bhekithemba first met. Bhekit was on his second year back from the dead and he was learning how the world worked again.

He was out shopping and learning with Claudia when he saw Andi's cart of fresh fruit and poured fresh orange juice. Claudia would tell the story of how Bhekit wouldn't leave until he got a drink and some mangos from the gentleman.

In what little Vesuvian he re-learned from his sister, he asked Andi for a drink and fruit.

Then all three of them stuck around and hung out for at least an hour. Bhek would go back by himself when he could and even met his wife and two children. Andi resided close to the Flooded district but moved his family a safer once area got worse.

To be honest with you, I don't see any of my apprentices having true enemies or rivals, since the whole city-state is already afraid of them and keeps their distance as it is.

I think Claudia would be the only one to truly have some enemies in the context of after Muriel's route when she becomes a courtier with Muriel and meets the Matabele court.

Part 2

Bhekithemba's Relationship with the other LI's

Asra

For Nadia's route, they kindle a relationship pretty fast, and before the route began Bhekit was like a little brother to Asra.

After Bhekithemba was resurrected and Asra's fallout with Claudia, they meet again at Muriel's hut and Asra looks out for him.

For Muriel's route timeline, Bhekithemba meets Asra as one of Nadia's counsels and doesn't trust them.

Muriel

For Nadia's route, neither of them trusts the other. Muriel thinks he's not Claudia's real little brother (same problem for Muriel with Claudia on his route) and Bhekit is wondering why he has a trinket with his Sisi's magic.

Before Nadia's route begins, they thought the other was cool and they were friendly, as much as Muriel could be friendly around that point.

For Muriel's route, by virtue of Muri being one of Nadia's courtiers, he gets the same amount of distrust as Asra. But the feeling is mutual and that is due to Bhekithemba, along with Themba and Mayihlome, triggering Claudia's headaches and nose bleeds.

Julien

In the beginning before Nadia's route when he was under Julien's apprenticeship along with Claudia for the palace, they had a funny camaderie. They could wind down the day with jokes, advice, and stories about their home countries.

In Nadia's route, when they meet at the shop the comical air is still there with a touch of seriousness. Julian broke into the shop and Bhekithemba caught him by the neck, demanding Julian to tell him why he was in his home.

Julian lets out a moan from Bhekithemba's tight grip on his throat and the younger man let's him go in shock. The moment gets more awkward when Julian finds out that not only does Bhekit not know who Asra is, no one by that name lives there.

Julian: "I'll show myself out."

It gets awakward every time they see each other in her route but their relationship gets better.

Nadia: "What happened between you two?"

Julian & Bhekithemba: "Nothing."

After Muriel's route when Matabele meets with Vesuvia, it's the same feelings as Asra and Muriel but at least he thinks Julien's funny.

Portia

He think she's funny and he does love her "Cut the bullshit" personality with Julien for Nadia's route and Muriel's.

For Muriel's route, he ironically considers trusting her more due to her breezy but professional attitude compared to Nadia. It just proves yet again, Nadia made a great choice making Portia Vesuvia's ambassador.

For Nadia's route, they get along wonderfully and he appreciates Portia not treating him or his family compared to the other Vesuvians. He returns the favor by vouching for her to Nadia and not seeing anything malicious in Portia's actions when it came to her sending out the letters to her family.

Count Lucio

In Nadia's route it's beef from the start. Bhekit found him brash and annoying while Lucio thinks he's a snot nosed punk. Extra points because Lucio suspects Bhekit, Claudia, Asra, and Sipho were hiding the Scourge from him.

It's hard to choose between who Lucio hates more: Bhekithemba, for his...everything or Claudia for pulling a long con on him to bring her bhuti back.

In Muriel's route, the whole of Matabele sees Lucio, Vlastomil, AND Nadia as completely responsible for the country suffering from the Red Plague and the casualties.

The Matabele citizens want retribution and Bhekithemba goes to Vesuvia to discuss what can be done and demand justice.

OC Apprentices meet the LI's part two!

Muriel

Claudia: Almost bumped into his back when she was heading off to the market, excuses herself while politely telling him he's blocking the way. When he turns around to face her, she can't help feeling like she knows him.

Claudia asks him if they've met before, but he avoids answering and cryptically warns her not to go to the palace, before handing her a bag of myrrh and disappearing around the corner.

Bhekithemba: "Excuse me, you're in the way. Or are we going to have a sun-blocking contest?"

Muriel moves aside and blushes at his joke. Muriel gives him the same warning but he gives Bhekit three decorated bags instead of one. An orange bag, in particular, has Claudia's name on it and before Bhekit can ask how he knows his sister, Muriel vanishes around the corner.

Anele: Tells him politely to "Move" when he's blocking her way out of the shop. They both stare each other down before he moves aside for hir to get by.

Before Anele can leave Muriel warns her about the castle, Lucio, and Julian. He gently hands Anele a small burlap satchel filled with myrrh in hir hand and leaves before she can reach him.

Portia

Claudia: I talked about this with @mxgicthot since this idea of how Portia met Claudia involves her OC, Erden. These three met after Claudia shut down the shop one late afternoon and decided to explore Vesuvia to clear her head from the long day.

She ends up going to the Rowdy Raven, where she meets Erden and Portia. They have more than a few drinks, sparks are flying between them so they go back to Erden's place, and have a threesome.

Portia and Claudia meet again at the market though it's slightly awkward but funny.

Bhekithemba: They accidentally bump into each other at the market. Bhekit did not see Portia due to his height and Portia was a little frazzled from dropping the pomegranates earlier. He helped with getting her things and after some joking around became friends.

Anele: Similar to Bhekithemba but she did see Portia coming at the last minute while she was looking for Julian. Caught Portia and her fruit just in time and straightened up before either of them could hit the ground.

Anele apologizes to Portia for running into her path and notes that she looks similar to a certain fugitive but puts it out of her mind.

Count Lucio

Claudia, Bhekithemba, and Anele: Lucio does his usual buttering up at first but as soon as he recognizes them, he begins to taunt them and call them thieves.

He backs off as soon as they show off the myrrh.

Bhekithemba gets a special shout-out since all Lucio does is insult and trip up Bhekit in his ghostly form while throwing the biggest digs at Claudia.
