Has anyone else noticed an influx of new bot blogs?
Like, seriously i swear i'm not fuckin' crazy, look for these things next time some random blog follows you.
They seem to use stolen art to masquerade as artists.
They usually have "Art" randomly jammed in the name, i get that this one's a bit of a reach, hell a lot of real artists i know have "Art" in their names.
Check their blog, they'll usually have a reblog of an artpost that you liked *maybe* 30mins ago, it's like they trawl the likes list for people to try to sucker in.
Oh, and they'll typically message you 7-10 days after they've followed you (data gathered from a pool of 8 of these bots, definitely ran into more than 8 overall, but i only started counting recently), it feels like they're trying to lay low or some shit, let you forget about them, then swoop in at a later date to not be as suspicious as they would had they messaged right when they followed.
Their blogs will almost always say a boiler-plate block of text with very minor tweaks to make it seem legit, usually boiling down to a very.. corporate sounding "Loves to make art and new friends".
And finally, the main thing, these "Artists*", (*see "bots) who will try to message you and try to get a commission out of you, never have any original posts featuring any of their art every post on their blog will be a reblog, every, single, one.
Maybe i'm just paranoid and i'm being followed by a lot of real artists that i've snubbed by case of mistaken identity, but on the other hand, the chances of so many blogs doing the same thing feels very, very low to me.
