Have you seen the claim Arab countries are only homophobic because of British colonialism? The "logic" is, because bugging your mate was illegal under the British Empire, that colonized Arabs adopted that mentality, and apparently are too retarded to rescind those views, despite the fact Britain itself now has LGBT rights.
Arab countries are homophobic largely because of the shia-sunni schism. In the past (like 1500yrs ago), homosexuality was pretty accepted throughout the Arab world, similarly to how it was "accepted" among the Romans and other ppl, i.e., top = great, bottom = loser beta male. Problems began to rise when ppl belonging to the Shia denomination (one part of the larger clan) started shaming the princes and caliphs of the Sunni denomination (the other part of the larger clan) for their homosexuality (sloppy bottom activities) as a strategy to dethrone and depose them for their status. The commoners ofc follow the trends of nobility and homosexuality eventually turned into something Evil and Dirty. Best example of this tactic being used to depose someone is our bisexual diva Walid II of the Umayya caliphate, who lost his status after some nosy fucker made a scene abt him having great sex. The British had very little to do with Arab homophobia, it was the Arabs own doing. If the British were the catalyst of Arab homophobia then similarly, the Americans should've also been able to abolish the abhorrent Bacha bazi practices of Afghanistan and yet, they still diddle little boys to this very day.
