Qatayef with Atar (قطايف) is an Arab dessert commonly served in Ramadan, filled with cream or nuts. It's of Fatimid origin and was traditionally prepared by street vendors and households in the Levant and Egypt, it is usually made with Akkawi cheese. Qatayef is the general name of the dish as a whole and specifically, the batter. The batter is poured onto a round hot plate similar to making pancakes, except only one side is cooked, then folded. It's filled with either unsalted cheese or a mix of hazelnuts, walnuts, almonds, pistachios, raisins, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon, and deep-fried or, less commonly, baked and served with a hot syrup or sometimes honey.
I just ate way too much qatayif o.O
Now my question for you guys, joz(nuts) or jibna(cheese)? :)
