THAT'S exactly what i'm saying??? by saying that stupid is an ableist word, you are implying that everyone who has a mental disability "lacks intelligence or common sense"

which, essentially, is ableist. if you take a word that doesn't relate to mental disabilities whatsoever and relate it to that disability, you're basically calling everyone with mental disabilities that word.

It would be nice if it started with the tinkling of bells. That's always a pleasant way to begin a story: merely by its invocation, it can evoke the scene of a person cautiously entering a store door, curious to see what lies behind, unaware of who awaits them and at the same time alerting those inside to their presence.

It didn't start with the tinkling of bells, because the shop had no air conditioning, and therefore the doors were all wide open. Rose poked her head in curiously; it seemed like a perfectly ordinary building, once home to a crab-cooking shack, and now a small but functional ice cream shop. At the counter, a young woman looked up from her 3DS and grinned brightly, white straight teeth set off by thick red lipstick, setting it down to greet Rose cheerfully. The faint violins of Professor Layton could be heard over the hum of the freezer. 

"Wonderful weather we're having, isn't it?" the woman asked in all earnestness. Outside, it was thick and muggy and overcast, the dishwater clouds trapping the city in humidity. Inside was hardly better, as a drop of condensation fell down the glass of the sneeze guard. Rose hummed in polite agreement, peering down at the flavors to see if any of them warranted the faintly ridiculous prices above. It took her a moment to realize that the lovingly detailed cutesy stickers on the glass were various types of animal skulls. 

An adorable skeleton cat overlapping the label for Salted Caramel Swirl proclaimed to the world, 'Me-Wow!'. Rose snorted. 

"Can I get you started on any tasters?" asked the woman, fiddling with a bobbypin that threatened to unravel her mass of barely tamed hair. "That salted caramel is one of our most popular flavors for a reason, you know!"

Rose touched an enthusiastically mooing cow skeleton, then looked up.  "I like bitter more than salty. What do you suggest?"

The woman propped her elbows on the counter and looked up at the water-stained ceiling, biting her red lips in an exaggeration of careful thought. There were little ghost plushies hanging down from the ceiling. Halloween wasn't for another two months. "Weeeeell," she drew out, tapping a red-lacquered fingernail at her chin, "we've got black walnut and maple walnut, but I've never seen anyone under the age of 50 order those. I'm thinking you'd probably like the caramel coffee cookie." She looked down at Rose and winked. "It's pretty decadent!" 

fuck i dont know where to go from here. maybe rose doesnt trust her and makes aradia taste the sample herself, and just stares at her lips popping off the spoon and humming in appreciation, and blushes a tiny bit

and then she comes in like twice a week to try a different flavor, and always makes aradia try it first, and when she runs out of flavors to make aradia try, she feels sad cause she doesnt have an excuse to have that exchange with her anymore, but the next time she comes in, she picks the caramel coffee cookie, and since business is kind of dead that day, aradia takes an hour off to eat a cone with rose and chat about morbid stuff together, and they exchange phone numbers so aradia can text her when she's bored at work.
