Simstober 2023 Challenge - Day 10 - Widow's Walk
Ansyl was still missing. They had stopped the search. Lost in the middle of the great woods, struggling to survive, she had no idea she was now a widow.
Mage Clans
So far, there are three known Mage clans: the Dantuzine, the Cambremon, and the Aramia.
The Dantuzine are the oldest and most well-known clan. Infamous for their cruelty, as well as their affinity for plant-magic. Their magic has allowed their serflands to be particularly fertile. However, their family is slowly dying out, with only one male being born to each of the last three generations. Clinging on to their glorious past, they are obsessed with their legacy.
The Cambremon are a new clan. The founders, Ezber and Nasbrin, were swords for hire who were blessed by spirits and decided to found a new hub. Nasbrin was especially instrumental in creating the hub, and sacrificed herself to permanently shelter it from the freezing coastal winds. The Cambremon are war-like and want to consolidate their position as a powerful clan.
The Aramia occupied a mountain-based hub and were the first clan to be attacked by spiders. They suffered huge losses, and have been the prey of bandits feasting on what remains of their wealth. They are rumored to have a strong connection to the spirit-world.
Bandit: Are you sure it’s a good idea to keep her? Those mages can be dangerous!
Bandit leader: Everyone knows the Aramia girl has no magic. She’ll fetch us a tidy ransom.
Bandit: Her husband divorced her, he’s never going to pay.
Bandit leader: He wasn’t able to guarantee her safe return to her family. If he wants to keep what’s left of his honor, he’ll pay. And if he turns out to be a cheapskate, we can always squeeze a few coins off the Aramia...
Other bandit: Hmm, what’s that noise?
Ansyl is Edvin’s ex-wife. Emphasis on the ex.
She was honestly much better off without him, until she was kidnapped by bandits on her way home to the Aramia lands, her whole retinue slain.
Bandit: There’s more of them!
Ansyl: *creeps out of the bandit camp*
Ansyl: Now’s my chance! Never thought I’d be glad to see spiders!
