⁀➴༯ Jinx.. “vi’s close friend.”
Vi’s house, as always, seemed familiar to you. The house you had been coming and going to since childhood, the PlayStation wars, the junk food-filled house, was part of your and Vi’s friendship. Vi had always been brave, outspoken, and fun; someone who was prone to fights but always reliable. You had been friends with her for years, and you knew that deep down she was protective, even though she seemed tough.
That day, you had come to Vi’s house to play games, as usual. While you were sprawled on the couch, clutching your joystick, Vi’s phone rang. She rolled her eyes, looked at the caller, and sighed. “Wait for me, this is someone I need to talk to.” she said, answering the phone and leaving the room. There was someone else, sprawled on an old, single couch in the corner, seemingly busy with her phone: Jinx.
Jinx was Vi’s younger sister. She was someone who stood out at school but didn’t really get close to anyone. She was a bit chaotic, a bit careless, but somehow everyone was interested in her. You had always been curious about Jinx—maybe a little too much. But Jinx didn’t usually seem to care much about people.
There was silence for a while. When you saw Jinx was still looking at her phone, you decided to say something to start a conversation.
“How’s school going? Lessons and stuff.”
Jinx looked up and looked at you with a slightly raised eyebrow. It seemed like she couldn’t make sense of the question. Finally, she shrugged nonchalantly.
“The usual. Boring.”
Jinx’s nonchalant tone made it clear that she wanted the conversation to end quickly. You glanced at her for a moment longer, but Jinx had already turned her attention back to her phone.
