Ichi Imori - Restart

Eugh. I was almost there, but I could not run efibootmgr due to a lack of something related to partitions. (Ironically, Arch Linux used "cowardly" to refer to itself.) I used cgdisk to write to the disk, but then the computer panicked about the partition table not being GPT. I eventually deleted the empty partition to start all over. Eugh.

I went so far in this... I was almost there... I wanted to have my own operating system...

I shall keep going, though, even if I would need to return to Ubuntu or use an approved Lignux distribution!

...maybe I should wait for the Arch Lignux foundation to implement the Secure Boot work-in...

...or even ask for help in the forums, since I have a rather specific set of problems?

I searched a lot, so I think this course of action can be justified...

Ichi Imori - A slight pause

I managed to install the OS in the new partition (which I had developed after using Gparted through my old Puppy Lignux disc1) WITHOUT using the workaround! I just needed to boot into legacy mode!

The thing is that now I have to boot into UEFI mode. I just returned here to make sure that I can still boot under Windows 8 all fine.

Now, after searching for the UEFISUS partition here, I hope that I can actually boot into UEFI mode...

1 = Seriously, if you are ever going into serious computer repair, burn an .iso of Puppy Lignux! The disc would be a great help to you!

Ichi Imori - Secure Boot

Installing Arch Lignux here is a pain. I eventually learned that I first had to disable Secure Boot under the BIOS, then I needed to go to the boot options menu to launch the Arch Lignux CD. However, booting normally left to a blank screen, but I learned of a workaround. Since I have burned the files to a USB disc (before using a CD-R to actually get the thing to boot, I think I am fine.

Let me see where this will take me...
