Nothing like having both my kids ask for help with their laptops, almost in tears from fear that they broke them after Microsoft Update caused errors mimicking hardware failure. Good job, Microslop!
My son's machine insisted it had a new CPU installed, causing a TPM prompt. His laptop had secure boot disabled.
My daughter was left with no video output on her primary display. She has a drawing tablet, which thankfully continued to work, but was showing itself as both display 1 and 2 in the windows settings with no errors or driver updates. And no, unplugging the tablet after shutting down the pc didn't fix it. Somehow, disabling secure boot did, though not without nuking her wallpaper and forcing a PIN reset.
What are they doing over there, and how is this still the dominant OS globally?
If I'd blindly followed the internet guides, I would have ended up factory restoring them and possibly losing data and hours of time.
Like, I wouldn't even be all that mad if Linux was always a minority OS if the alternative actually fucking worked.
