The weird thing I realized over time was that PUAs were actually correct *about the specific women they were around* - it’s just that those women are like... only representative of like... a handful of women in very specific social contexts (the popular types that their guy friends also want to date, and or women who hang out at clubs/bars).
It’s so weird, the assumptions that clear non-normies make about How To Normie and it almost never ends up even approaching how to actually BE normie
#one of my obsessive interests is weird subcultures I can never be a part of#I used to read about them the way I'd read anthropological ethnographies#it's kinda died back as an interest in middle age#also you need to realize that a chunk of PUA is a grift on male autists#PUA was morbidly fascinating to me because I saw through to the autism very quickly in many cases#Dating Advice Culture in general for normie-aspirational men OR women tends to be a bit MLM and grifty#it never actually produces the promised results#some permasingles jump from workshop to workshop - part of the ~ I found love when I stopped looking ~ is that people do dumb shit when they#are looking#or desperate#a giant chunk of people in Dating Advice Culture are immigrants/misfits/people who grew up unpopular/autists#though female autists often get bullied out by other women in those spaces tbh
