Area 7 // Metroid: Samus Returns (2017)
OH. MY. GOD!! When I tell y’all I’ve never been oh so terrified in my entire life, I- dear oh lord almighty.
I’m just imagining this and I can’t-
Okay. So. Picture this. The whole entirety of America (or whatever idk I forgot the details) all resides on the Mr President of America having to have his handprint be recognised by this box. There’s ten seconds left and the Pres and the box in the hands of a man helping the Pres are on diff platforms with a few hundred feet between them and below them. And in order for them to save America for another hour and a half... they have to be trapeze artists to reach other in the middle, lots of feet in the air,,,
Please. PLEASE. I’m crying,,
HOW?!? How does Matthew Reilly come up with this?? This is too funny.
EDIT: like wtff??!

Area 7 Leadership Academy
For the past two years, since the completion of Leadership Academy, I have been a “red shirt”. What that means is that I am a Cadre, a camp counselor of sorts at this military boot camp, and for the last few years I have never felt as if I did not belong in this group of cadre.
To give you the low-down on L.A. (Area 7 Leadership Academy), basically NJROTC kids from all over the state, to come to this bootcamp that is hosted at my old high school. Drill Instructors and other SNSI and NSI instructors volunteer their time to help guide and teach these students the importance of discipline and how to lead properly. During the week, these kids work from 5 in the morning to 11 at night. They are constantly moving, naps are not an option. They take classes such as sailing, orientation, leadership, etiquette, etc. Finally after a week, these kids are ready to graduate with beautiful silver cords.
As a cadre, this week (or two, incase you’re a crazy one like me), we are meant to me, in laments terms, the secretaries to all the instructors. Whatever the DI’s need, we are the one’s to get it to them. From waking up at 4:50 in the morning to going to bed at 11:30 at night, unlike the students we actually get to take naps. Only after we know that all the work is done. Being a cadre I meet a lot of cadets from all over. These past two weeks I got to have six brand new Cadre. I have come to love every single one, and it was sad to see some of them go. The thing is, when you work so closely with people like these six, it is bittersweet to see them go back to their homes. Although, these six aren’t the only one I had the chance to give my love out to. Over the course of two weeks I’ve “adopted” children. I am one of the many sailing instructors which means I get to talk to a lot of the cadets. Sailing is like the number one way to get to know a cadet because you are out on the water for four hours with these people, trust me the conversations you have out there are ridiculous.
However, what makes this years L.A. so special was that this was the last year my sister, Katryna, could work this camp. For practically six years she has devoted parts of her summer making sure that this camp was ready to go and operate. She’s been in charge of all the paper work, making sure all the rooms are livable and just so much more. When she told me that I would be the one to take her position, I was shocked. I couldn’t and can’t possibly imagine being capable of doing half the things she has done for L.A., without her the camp just wouldn’t happen. In short, she is Area Seven’s Leadership Academy, so much so that she was honored to have a new award established under her name, given to the Cadre who shows as much volunteerism and heart as she does. Whoever gets this award in the years to come needs to know how incredibly important it is, and how much of an honor it is to earn this. To anyone who has the pleasure to work with Katryna, know this. She is driven, determined, brilliant and has so much love in her heart. She is passionate and will wake up at five in the morning even though she isn’t needed until six. Katryna you are truly one of my best friends and role models. I hope that Medical School treats you kindly.
As always, Thanks for listening Home-slices!

Shane Schofield Call sign: Scarecrow
This is exactly how I picture Schofield in Matthew Reilly’s Scarecrow series.
I’d love to hear what you think of him! :)
The SAS commando stared at Schofield for a long moment. they just stood there, in the cabin of the speeding hovercraft, like two gunfighters facing off against each other on a western street. and a sudden blur of movement, the SAS man went for his gun. Schofield went for his. Both guns came up fast but only one went off. ‘You can open your eyes now,’ Schofield said, as he stepped forward - over the body of the dead SAS commando - and bent down beside Kirsty.
