Pe 24 octombrie, Sfântul Mare Mucenic Areta și, alături de el, 4.299 de alți mucenici, au suferit pentru Hristos în secolul al VI-lea. Areta era prefectul orașului creștin Negran, din Arabia. Regele de acolo, Dunaan era evreu, hotărât să elimine creștinismul din țara sa.
