Three-Spine Stickleback over Barcaldine Castle.
So many times something like this happens and it feels so good that it raises the question, “Is that it?” As in, “Can this be done?” And then, “Why do I feel like I have to make this more complicated?” Rarely, if ever, have I left a collage alone after combining just two elements, and I probably won’t this time, either. But why not? It already says it all. It says everything I am feeling. There is no rule that says art has to be difficult or complicated. But at the same time I have been one of those people who says, “What’s the big deal? I could do that.” What drives that response? Why do I feel like a work of art needs to demonstrate some level of technical skill? It honestly feels like it would take a lot of guts to call this one done, frame it, and put it price on it. For that reason, I just might.
And I guess it’s not like it was easy to cut out that stickleback.
