Ariel actually has one of the best trilogy arcs that shows how to break generational trauma and how easy and dangerous it is to become your parents and operate out of a trauma response. She also isnt one dimensional. Her arc wasnt about changing for her man but about being able to choose who she wanted to be. Eric was merely a symbol of the humanity she wanted to experience for herself. In this essay I will-

Attina

Attina is the oldest daughter of King Triton. She is six years older than her youngest sister; Ariel. She appears in The Little Mermaid, The Little Mermaid II, The Little Mermaid: The Series and The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Beginning and has minor roles in all of them. She is the oldest and is this the most bossy and the most responsible and mature of her siblings.

In The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Beginning after her mother is killed, she learns that Ariel is sneaking off to listen to music, which their father had forbidden. She helps her sisters show their father that music is, in fact, good. Her appearances in The Little Mermaid: The Series are relegated to cameos. In The Little Mermaid, she appears with her other sisters (except for Ariel) at a concert that Sebastian was putting on for their father. She is later seen at the wedding of Ariel and Eric, along with the rest of her family. In The Little Mermaid II, her appearance is, again, relegated to a cameo.

In The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Beginning (2008), King Triton has seven daughters, one for each of the seven seas.

Out of all seven, Ariel is the only one who does not wear anything in her hair.

So i just read The Little Mermaid: The Holiday Treasure Hunt

Where Ariel buys all these gifts for her friends and family and her husband, but when Max, their dog, finds his, he hides them all on the beach. Then when Ariel finds out, she decides to make a scavenger hunt out of it and Eric says they should do this every year for christmas.

It got me thinking about Christmases with Melody.

I'd like to think they continued the tradition for their daughter and everyone in the castle made it a cute game for her when she was growing up.

Like when she was a baby, Ariel and Eric would do it for her with Melody being passed between the two of them while they let her grab the presents they found.

And then when she was older, around the age she is in the movie - 13, she finds them herself, going from on land to the sea - or well, if she has any other mermaid powers, she could either do it herself or have her mom or her grandfather go down to the sea to grab the presents for her if they're too deep for her to go without her fins.

And maybe Grandpa Triton gives her something from her Grandmother Athena, and when Melody shows it to Ariel, Ariel tears up and thanks her father.

Now i want to write a short story about this.
