When and how did you find out you liked to write?
Ohhh good question. Well, I think being a storyteller has always been a part of me. Like when I was little, I’d play dress-up in extreme detail and I’d set up a whole town with my Barbies in my playroom and had a huge story for them and I just didn’t play with them the same as other girls and I was always so mad if my little sister messed up my story. I also played Sims 2 the same way. I didn’t really just play the game, I had a certain story for them which led to me making videos of stories using the characters and the game. I think it took me to just put the pieces together and put a name to what I did which was storytelling. I know I knew that I wanted to act by 4th grade but I don’t think I realized fully that what I really wanted to do was create stories (write, create films, act, even make music, all mediums) until like the beginning of high school when terms became more important. I’ve always written little stories (that I now cringe over) since maybe elementary school on my computer sometimes using clipart for story inspirations, etc. but that was just for fun and I just did it and didn’t really notice that I was a writer/storyteller. Sometime in middle school though (2009), my cousin (the same one who showed me tumblr) and I were talking and she was sharing her writing to me and told me of a website called Mibba wear I could share my writing and I think that’s what got me into writing even more. I wrote a lot of stories then and really expanded on my writing the more I wrote. I think that’s around the time I started to realize that I wasn’t just writing for fun, I really did have stories I wanted to share. As I got deeper into high school though, schoolwork was being packed on and I didn’t have as much time to write but when I do, I love it. I also grow as a writer and a storyteller more and more each time I write and I’m just starting to understand how to use words and symbols and such to my advantage in my stories so I’m experimenting with that at the moment. I currently have many in progress but only a few that I really think I want to pursue and maybe someday I’ll create those into books or films but for now, they’re just stories I want to put down in writing.
I talked to a director though about two years ago and he said the best thing a storyteller (even film and aspiring directors and such) can do is write, write, write, and write. I never knew that film and writing were connected and maybe that was the moment that I realized what storytelling really is. But I felt so happy because I had literally been doing that without even thinking about it for years so I knew that I was actually on the right track.

PS- but keep in mind that I’m mainly a storyteller, I am still trying to perfect my writing but my point with my writing is the story not exactly the words and grammar and everything (but I do try)
