Lore about tally cats
YES!! Absolutely!! This will be long i'm so sorry lmfao
Tally gets cats when they move to Doomsbury as a way to keep them company, and all of their names are classic arcade games (minus one but i'll get into that). Their cats names are Galaga (Gally), Polybius (Poly), Arkanoid (Arka) and DigDug (Diggy)!
Galaga is a female dilute calico that Tally got when they first moved to Doomsbury to ease their loneliness. She's a silly little girl who can see ghosts and who loves playing with toys over anything else. She likes sleeping near Tally's head and is also very loving and needy in the morning. She wears a orange/black/teal collar with triangle patterns and an orange bell! So she is a little jingly baby :3. She can not stand Carver's tie (its the thing she thwaps at the most) and she HATES the sound vacuums make. Carver's nickname for her is simply "Girl" as she's the only female cat Tally has.
Polybius is a male black cat that Tally ALSO got when they first moved to Doomsbury, he was a little older when Tally got him so he is older than Galaga is. He's what would be considered the 'anxious' cat of the bunch. He's known for his vacant stares and looking off into places where nothing is... it's usually him reacting to ghosts or something ethereal (so says Tally). Polybius is actually the reason Carver and Tally meet in the first place! He's a jumpy little guy who will dart out a door if given the opportunity which led him into Carver's hands (which has led Polybius to be what Carver would consider to be the 'pickiest' of the cats as he hates being pet if Carver has his gloves on). Formerly he would sleep beside Tally or at their feet but once they live with Carver he actually sleeps curled up next to Carver instead. Carver's nickname for him is "Rat". Polybius wears a pink and black checkered bandanda- ala a "Missing Texture" pattern.
Arkanoid is a male white cat with blue and yellow heterochromia. Carver calls him "Freak" because Arkanoid is a cat who loves wearing his harness at all times- he enjoys going on walks and actually loves acting more like a dog than a cat. This is even expressed in his sleeping habits as he enjoys sleeping on a bed off of the shared one of his owners- though he will sleep on the bed with them on occasion, he's taken on Polybius' bed location and will sleep near his owners feet. The pattern on his harness matches that of the arcade game his name comes from- it looks just like Arkanoid!
DigDug is the newest family member and he is a male orange tabby cat. He is a bit of a chunky boy (without causing health problems). He's similarly needy as Galaga is, he loves getting affection and he loves being pet and getting forehead kisses and he's overall a very sweet boy! Carver calls him "Fat Fuck" on occasion which usually results in him being stared at by a teary eyed Tally who think its SO MEAN for him to call him that. DigDug wears a little purple neckerchief around his neck but he usually takes it off and leaves it in random places. It has been lost and left in Carver's workspace before. He's needed many replacement neckerchiefs because of this.
Also two fun facts! As I said before they're all named after classic arcade games- Polybius is the only exception as its based on an old urban legend of a cabinet called Polybius. I've always wanted to name my pets after video games and classic arcade games have the best naming in my opinion for the most part (mostly because they're usually one word and not a long title-).
As for the other fun fact- Galaga is based on a real cat I owned! Here's some photos of the real Lil Miss Gally who I miss and love every single day. And yes- hilariously one of her favorite toys was the Gnome xD (These are from 2021 for context)!
Arkanoid title music from the Commodore 64. By Martin Galway. C64 games don't hold up too well but that sound chip was unique and super synthy
You cannot play as Luigi in Arkanoid.
KDMU After-Cool Adventure Block Promo (8-20-87)
A friend of mine at Buzby-Spurlock sent me a rare surviving KDMU bumper that was in an old box of materials sent in for approvals. I remember afternoons watching the Omnistation before mom and dad got home and made me change the channel because the monsters on ROM gave me nightmares.
Pretty sure I've still got my ScardeyHoot stuffed animal in mom's attic, but the tail got too loose to hold him up after a couple of years of me dragging him around by it.
Let me know if this brings back memories for any of you guys.
